Very, very good. The actors are so talented. I especially enjoyed Sandy.. She sounded very much like Olivia Newton John. Very enjoyable evening.

    Grease

    by Toria58 on 7/31/13Eldorado Casino - Reno

I was very disappointed. It appeared to be more like a high school play than an professional one. Some of the signature songs from 'Grease' were not even sung..for example when Sandy was singing 'Hopelessly Devoted To You" That one is a signature song for certain. Other songs that were sung, some were in the movie and some we had never heard of. I would go see it as a high school play but for the price of this I definitely would not recommend it. Sorry to say as Grease is one of my very favorites!

    Grease is the word!

by BlondeKT on 7/30/13Eldorado Casino - Reno

We loved how close it was related to the movie, even though a few scenes and songs had to be changed up a bit. We were happy that some of the songs like ' Summer lovin, Beauty School drop out, look at me I'm Sandra Dee,Those magic Changes and The worst things I could do' and more were included and done so well. We were slightly disappointed on a few of our faves that were left out or changed, like' You're the one that I want, Hopelessly Devoted, sandy" but we realize this is the way it goes with copyrights and music. We were confused on the whole dance contest scene with no Sandy, and how Cha Cha came out looking nothing like her sexy character, seemed randomly out of place... but overall we had a blast and could sit through it again and have just as much fun. Our daughter was thrilled to meet the cast after the show and have pics and aughtographs. 5 stars!

    Timeless

by Malibukate on 4/23/13Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

I have been enjoying the stage play of Grease for years. It has always been fun to see the different perceptions and sets, songs and actors....as each play/venue has twitted it a little differently....I enjoyed interacting with the young kids before the play all dressed in character of the grease troupe. They had such energy. I was a little concerned for their ages since the dialog and references and some physical dancing and movements were more adult than pg...but even our commercials are too adult these days for most of the viewers. The troupe was very talented....it was fun...what fantastic voices these young actors have - wow. Great play - great rendition. HOW ABOUT PUTTING INTO YOUR PRODUCTION....THE FANTASTIKS..;..NOW THAT IS ONE HECK OF A PLAY....I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT PERFORMED AGAIN. GREAT STORY LINE FOR ALL AGES...

    FABULOUS is the word!

by JRPActor on 4/22/13Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

I was in grade school when Grease was being workshopped and doing trial runs before opening on Broadway and the subsequent national tours. I was in High School when the film came out and saw it opening weekend, and several repeat viewings that summer! GREASE is a popular stage musical with schools and community Theatres and I have seen my fair share. You soon learn that there are songs in the stage version and songs in the movie version that don't appear in the other! If you want to see an authentic production of the stage production; then I recommend you see one directed by an original cast member of the stage production and Thousand Oaks, Cabrillo Music Theater did just that; they hired former STAGE AND MOVIE cast members with Barry Pearl directing and Kelly Ward choreographing! It was wonderful! We especially loved Frenchy, played by Tessa Grady, a young triple threat destined for big things! Kudos to the entire staff, cast and crew! BRAVO!

    Grease is the word!

by JustMom on 4/21/13Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

The performance of this classic was outstanding! The ensemble cast female standouts were Rizzo Frenchy, and Patty. Rizzo's solo was perfection, she had the character down the minute she walked onstage. Patty Sue's comic timing was right on, would have liked to see more of her. The males were all great, Kinnikie, had the most charisma onstage and a stand out voice. The only negative, unfortunately was Sandy. There was no stage presence, very vanilla, at the end when she transitions to bad girl, she should have had more energy and her voice should have been stronger. She was still vanilla just dressed different. Staging and direction spot on.

    not bad, not great

by RoyalTenenbaum on 4/20/13Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

The accents, especially with the girls, were so over the top, and they took their voices up 2 octaves to do it, became so distracting. It was odd to see songs during a musical when the actors picked up microphones to sing them! I've never seen that before, unless it was a prop, which they used in some scenes as well. The prop 50's mics were cool, but the others were just weird.

    Not what I expected. Mediocre

by LAConfidential on 4/16/13Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

I paid Broadway money for a high school level musical. Most of the iconic music of the movie was either changed or not sang at all. It was good but not worth more than $10 per ticket.
