    Bad Venue

    by T. C. on 2/19/21Macon Centreplex Coliseum - Macon

The competition and professionalism of the GHSA crew that put it on and ran the program were awesome. What wasn’t awesome was the inability of the last crew of competitors to visit the vendors after awards. We were rushed out of the building and unable to get a State Championship anything. Work hard all year for this opportunity and unable t ok but anything to show for it afterwards.

    Opportunities for Improvement

by MomofTwo on 11/19/19Columbus Civic Center - Columbus

In general, this event can be run much more efficiently. On Day Two, concessions ran out of WATER and ALL non-carbonated drinks. (This after water bottles were confiscated upon entry.) I only saw two food concessions open and the lines were crazy long. It took 30 minutes! I only saw ONE merchandise booth and I waited one hour and ten minutes to purchase a pair of sweat pants. That is ridiculous. There should be at least five merchandise booths open. Parking was horrendous. There were only people collecting money. No one was directing traffic to help the flow and patrons get in or out efficiently. Finally, I suggest the event coordinators create a fan viewing area like all star cheer has verses having spectators fight over seats. If a viewing area was designated, that would allow interested parties to view their athlete without obstruction. I would recommend someone attend an All Star event to see how efficiently and organized the viewing area is facilitated.

    Music was too loud

by Jenny on 11/19/19Columbus Civic Center - Columbus

I loved watching all these talented cheerleaders. However, the music to their routines was way too loud. It about busted my ear drums. You cannot hear the support from the audience when the music blares so loud.

Actual competition runs great...line is ridiculous!!

by Cheer on 11/18/19Columbus Civic Center - Columbus

First l let me say, this competition always runs great...fast and on time! However, I’m only leaving 3 stars because of the line to get in, it’s ridiculous! Teams start lining up days before. To those of you that do that, I promise it doesn’t mean you love your kid more, just means you clearly have no life. We did get there at 7am Saturday, because if you don’t, you can forget getting a decent seat. I get that a few will get there early and hold a spot for the team, I (and a few others from our team) did that also. But, when other teams show up 30 mins before the doors open and think they can get in line with another team from their county (that acted as if they didn’t know you, or even want your team with them), that’s ridiculous, and not gonna happen...at least not in front of me. If you are an adult, act like it and be respectful of others around you. And, of course there were no or employees/security around to help with this or any other problems that occurred in this ridiculous line! I believe the arena could fix this either by a lottery system, and teams could buy group tickets together with assigned seats. Or, have 2 alternating viewing sections, so fans were ready as soon as their team came out. My child is a senior though...so as much as I will miss watching her and her team, I will not miss how that part of the state competition is ran.

    Need better planning for crowd

by Beth on 11/18/19Columbus Civic Center - Columbus

Once again, the lines to purchase the already printed state shirts, etc was wrapped around the upper walkway. I got in line 45 minutes before the event began and still didn't get through until 5 minutes after the start. There should be more than one location to purchase and better setup so that people can get through the line. Most of the parents on our team didn't bother to get in line because they were afraid to miss the performance. Also, there should be a better way to line up next to the building when it is raining so that everyone isn't soaked by the time they get to the door. The logisitics are poorly planned for this event.

Wait time to enter was ridiculous

by Teresa on 11/18/19Columbus Civic Center - Columbus

The center itself was clean and able to accommodate the crowd for this great event, but the wait time outside was uncalled for.....even if it had NOT been pouring down rain and frigidly cold. There should have been a back-up plan in place for just that type of weather.

    GHSA State Cheerleading Championship

by supermanrw5080 on 11/14/16Columbus Civic Center - Columbus

The event was good! Issues in miscommunication regarding photography.... Was instructed over intercom no flash photography... then allowed to take photos... then threatened to throw out if you take pics... They need to have a consensus on the rules and apply them accordingly... This was ridiculous!!

    State Championship was GREAT!!!

by ASH47 on 11/18/14Columbus Civic Center - Columbus

The Championship was Great in itself. I think it is ridiculous that my ticket cost double because I ordered from ticketmaster. I really don't think the fees should be equal to the the ticket price.

    GHSA Cheerleading State Championships

by mora8975 on 11/17/14Columbus Civic Center - Columbus

My experience was good. I think dividing the sessions into 2 groups was a great idea. That really helped with the seating problems experienced last year. The music was at a tolerable level and the event moved very smoothly.
