For a non-stop onslaught of manic punk shenanigans, surfer weirdos FIDLAR are hard to beat. Thrashing around the stage with an infectious no-holds-barred performance style, the members have a dramatic flair for reckless abandon while they play. If you’re looking for a heart-pounding thrill set to a high-octane beat, Fidlar is right up your alley, but the experience is definitely not for the faint of heart. Audience members looking to mosh can get sucked into the riptide of their surf-punk mayhem, but even ticket buyers who stay out of the pit will be treated to a show they’ll never forget.
Second-generation punk royalty, FIDLAR is comprised of brothers Elvis and Max Kuehn (sons of T.S.O.L. keyboardist Greg Kuehn), half cousin Brandon Schwartzel and Zac Carper -- himself the son of a famous surfboard designer. Their pedigrees lean heavily on the SoCal lifestyle, as does their signature sound, blending inspirations as disparate as Dick Dale and Black Flag. Their 2013 self-titled album became an underground smash praised for its aggressive and playful sound, and several of its songs were eventually featured on soundtracks for video games, TV shows, and motion pictures. The band was also named one of Stereogum’s “Best New Bands of 2012” before being nominated for both an O Music Award and an AIM Independent Music Award in 2013.
