About

Ridiculously funny and bloody awesome! That's what theatregoers from Toronto to NYC and around the world have been saying about the record-breaking musical comedy sensation that takes all the elements of Sam Raimi's cult classic films to make one of the craziest theatrical experiences of all time! The only musical in the world where audiences can sit in the “Splatter Zone” and get drenched from the mayhem, or watch from a save (and dry) distance.

Five college students spend the weekend in an abandoned cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It's all up to our hero, Ash, and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Evil Dead the Musical, has it all - some dismembered limbs, demons telling bad jokes, and catchy tunes (“Look Who’s Evil Now”, “All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons”).

SPLATTER ZONE: Audience members have a "bloody" choice in seating! You can sit in the "Dry Zone" to watch the mayhem or you can sit in the infamous “Splatter Zone!” and get drenched when the blood starts gushing! You will get drenched by stage “blood” and get increasingly wet over the course of the performance (ponchos are available for purchase).

The musical was incredible! The songs, the dancing, and the characters did not disappoint! I am so glad the musical didn't take itself seriously and the actors looked like they truly were having a blast on stage! I would recommend this to anyone!

    DON'T MISS EVIL DEAD!!!

by NATIONALZASA on 9/29/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Very funny! Never saw the movies but it reminds of a Comic Book come to life. It is a bit vulgar in spots - but overall taken in context delivers what it promises - well-written. catchy music with exaggerated fun. Callie Johnson, David Sajewich, and Andrew Di Rosa have great comedic timing - they are hilarious. The entire cast has great chemistry - they make this show so much fun. I thought I might not like Callie Johnson in this role after her sensational performances in "Next to Normal" and "Carrie"; however, this young lady is so versatile - she brought the house down laughing in her dual roles. Audience members - be prepared to laugh - this show is fun - pure fun.

    Gory Fun!

by esurkj on 9/29/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

If you are a horror movie fan, this is a must for you. The musical makes appropriate mockery of classic horror movies and leaves you rolling in the isle. I only wish that I could have sat in the first 4 rows to be a part of the "Splash Zone" where you are almost assured to get some blood on you :). The music is entertaining and I found myself listening to the soundtrack all weekend. Like the movies, there are some sexual references which was a little strange as I was with my 17 yr old daughter, but no nudity or anything like that. If you have ever seen the movie, this is much lighter.

    HILARIOUS

by hunnylvr on 9/29/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

When I first realized there was a show called "Evil Dead the Musical", I didn't know whether to laugh or scream. However, having grown up during the period when the original movie was released and understanding the cult following it has, I couldn't pass this up. We chose to sit dead center in the front row ("splatter zone"), and we had a BLAST. Let me say, btw, this is more than "splatter".. be prepared to leave that theater soaked to the bone in "blood". The songs were actually well-written - meaning, they were actually very funny and definitely nailed the intended campy effect. The actors were really good (especially the girl who played "Cheryl", Ash's sister - I swear she made up half the stuff she was saying thru the whole thing and had me laughing myself crazy). I didn't read the Playbill because it was tucked away the minute I got it to protect it from the "elements". I guess I could've looked at it before writing this to give the actor's their props. Anyway, they were all great and clearly have a great sense of humor. They truly feed on the audience and the entire craziness that is this show.

Well done musical. Very Campy and funny. Not high brow at all. Very nice, small theatre. You will get wet in the first few rows!

It's Not Supposed to Be Good

by Anonymous on 9/29/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

You really have to "get" Evil Dead to enjoy this show. It's supposed to have cheesy lines, inside jokes, and over-the-top acting and stunts. There were plenty of people the night I went who left halfway through or hadn't seen the movies. The guy in front of me didn't even know it was a movie! In this case, you will hate it. But if you are a fan, you will most likely love just how awful it is.

I went with my daughter even though I had never seen the original movie. It was funny, entertaining and the songs were wonderful. We sat in the splatter zone which made the night even more memorable. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

    Go see this musical

by stevemdguy on 9/26/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

If you like to have a fun time and are not squeamish about fake blood...this musical is for you. You will especially love it if you are a fan of any of the original Evil Dead movies. The cast is great and they will hang out and take pictures with you after the show. It was the most fun I had at the theater, and the low brow humor was perfect. This musical was blast to see and funny as hell. The musical numbers like "Bit Demon Player" and "What The Fu$k Was That?" were really fun too. Do yourself a favor and go see this musical. Don't be afraid of the splatter zone tickets if you are prepared to be covered in fake blood. It was awesome!

    Great Fun

by Achilles70 on 9/26/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The show definitely appeals to those who are already big fans of The Evil Dead. It carries the comedy that the feature film has along with criticising its own corny plot points and plot holes. For those approaching The Evil Dead musical with no knowledge or viewing of the series, will still be quite entertained by the sheer energy the actors put into their iconic characters. There is the added bonus of sitting in the splatter zone and being covered in fake blood. After the show the entire cast was great in remaining on stage for a brief meet and greet to take pictures and talk with audience members.
