Wonderful show! Wonderful entertainers overflowing with true talent!
Went to play for my wife’s birthday present and she loved it. The only critical comment I would have is the lack of space with seating. I felt like the guy next to me was on my lap.
Of course we couldn’t take pictures to help us audience people remember the great show but it’s worth every penny. Go see it before it leaves Chicago.
This is the third time I've seen this brilliant production, in various cities. The staging, choreography and puppetry concepts never cease to amaze and enthrall. Such a talented cast! Such a great re-working of the animated feature! I love that the play Africanizes the story in a way the film doesn't. And I really appreciate the new material. HOWEVER --- this time around, there are significant problems as well. 1. Too much playing for laughs -- leads to mugging and a slowed-down pace of the show. Faster, tighter, would be better. 2. The sound design was awful. I have attended so much theatre in Chicago, NY, LA, other cities. I have seldom heard a more uneven mix -- balance problems, muddy & unclear dialogue and songs. I can't figure out what the people at the mixing board were hearing --- because much of the show was completely unintelligible. I understand (a little) when there are sound problems in a very short, one-week run of a road show. But this show has been playing here for over a month -- no excuses! I've even seen this same production in the same theatre years ago --- it was much clearer. I expect better quality control from Broadway in Chicago. 3. The orchestra keeps shrinking -- the use of fewer and fewer acoustic instruments diminishes the quality of the original show.
Beautiful set, talented cast, wonderful show!! Would definitely recommend:)
The Lion King show did not disappoint! We knew we would love it and we did. I brought my 10 and 12 year old daughters who have both done theater and costume creating before and they loved it and had a great experience! I definitely recommend spending the extra money to sit in the Orchestra section for this show. It’s a whole different experience being up close the the amazing costumes!
My husband and I had seen the show 20 years ago when I was pregnant. My daughters joined us for the show. The costumes were stunning! The voices were amazing! A must see!!
It was beautiful, emotional and the best performance by a wonderful group of professionals!
Brought our 4 grandkids to see this. It was tremendous and the kids really enjoyed it!
We had an awesome time, my grandbaby is 3 and she stayed engaged the ENTIRE production....AWESOME JOB
My sister (age 89) stated it was the most spectacular performance she had ever seen. That to me, says it all.
It’s an amazing show, no question. Unfortunately, it was poorly miked and my kids could barely make out any of the words. Just turn the mike volume up please! Also, the audience was threatened into getting into their seats by scary announcements about getting locked out, and there was barely time to pee at intermission, definitely couldn’t buy any concessions. I understand they need to run the shown promptly to reset for a second evening show, but it made the process of being an audience member stressful. For the large amount of money we paid for our tickets, I don’t want to be hassled to hurry up at every moment. And again, check your mike levels!
The music, the amazing costumes, one of the best plays I've seen.
The costumes, music, performers, and all the creativity put into a Disney story that we all love and know was fabulous!!! I highly recommend seeing. It’s worth paying extra for main floor seating to experience the live action in the aisles.
Exciting, indescribable, simply spectacular; excellent actors and the real magic was felt!
My daughter and I enjoyed the event. Its was amazing well organized and beautiful. The cast was great. The performance thumbs up. I will see again.
The show was well done. The animals merged into the characters portraying them and the actors were very clear in delivering their lines. The stage props were creative and helped to tell the story without having an extravagant stage production.
Everything—from the music, to the dances, to the props and costumes—was absolutely incredible. My eight year old and I were both enchanted by this show. Great fun for all ages!!
I have never spent so much money for a live presentation and won’t again. The best part gif the show were the costumes and the dancers wearing the elaborate costumes. I did not leave the theatre with a glow as I have done with truly wonderful shows
We had seats on the front row next to the steps to the stage. We had concerns about being too close to appreciate the performance. To my surprise, my husband says he had "the best seat in the house." I saw the show in Las Vegas several years ago. I had forgotten how beautiful and fabulous the show was and continues to be.
