Sitting in the first few rows is a lot of pressure, but once the show started, you just can't stop the laughs. Geoff Tice was a great host and he should get props for being such!! Demetri gave us a lot to ponder while making it all a laughable experience. Loved the white board work that he does! Thanks Demetri for the night of fun and jocularities!! Hope the taping was all worthwhile and we gave as much as you did. Can't wait to see the finished product.
So... I received an email saying if we were not in our seats by 8 pm, we could lose our seats. We got to the venue at 7:30. We then waited 1 1/2 hours in line. Not in a great mood anymore. Turns out they got a late start and then did some reaction shots of the audience after the show was over. It took extra time. W we finally got into the theater and Dmetri Martin came on.He was meh. Not bad but he seems to be losing it. Happens with older comics... we left after an hour. I only laughed a couple of times and my family was falling asleep. Wasted time and money.
We received an email saying if we weren't there at 5:30 for the 6 show, our seats may be reassigned. So everyone crammed into the hot lobby and they didn't even open the doors until 5:55. Obviously the 6 show did not start on time. Started at 6:47. Everyone started in the mood for comedy and he was good but that was annoying. Then the 8:30 show also didn't start on time since the 6 show didn't get out until almost 9. I think that's rude and disrespectful for everyone who is waiting. If you want happy people, start on time
Martin's comedy is as dry, witty, and thoughtful as ever. I really enjoyed his material and had a good time, but the fact that the show started nearly an hour late had me and my date in a sour mood going in.
unique and amazing comedian. there is not another quite like Demetri. so worth enjoying live
I’ve like Demetri Martin for a long time. I’ve always felt that his humor was funny and that he connected with his audience. Unfortunately, the 2 hour late start and the heckler did not help his performance. The disjointed manner of the show made me feel like the audience should have been paid to see him instead. Perhaps next time when it’s not a Netflix special the performance would be better. Also, while the opening act was supposed to be just a quick warm up, I really didn’t find his humor funny. Perhaps if I had children I could have related, however his jokes only reminded the parents who were there that they had to pay their baby sitters for the additional 2 hours of standing in line, wondering if they should just have headed home.
This was such a weird experience. They were and 1 hour and 45 minutes late on starting the show. The Netflix filming aspect was strange. He had to keep starting over jokes. Totally killed the funny for us. We left early
I've seen Demetri Martin 3 times so far and love his comedy. This one was a little disjointed though due to filming. Brought a friend who hadn't seen him before but because of the very long delay in the 1st show due to technical difficulties, she had to leave an hour before it was over because the babysitter couldn't stay so late, so she didn't get to enjoy the whole show. That was quite a disappointment. Venue (Paramount) could have done better. Uncomfortable temporary seats towards the front, high priced drinks with off tasting wine (didn't drink it but spent almost $50 for 2 wines and 2 waters). Such a waste.
By far the best comedy show I've ever been to. Highly recommend! Demetri Martin is a seasoned proffesional, still at the top of his game and after almost 25 years in comedy, hes still reaching new heights. Cheeks were hurting by the end of it from non-stop laughter, worth every penny!
