DAMIEN RICE IN CONCERT:
Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice began his career in 1991 with indie-rock band Juniper. After the group disbanded in 1998, Rice traveled around Europe for the next year before returning to Dublin to pursue a solo career. Over the course of 12-years Rice has released two full-length albums, two live recordings and an EP. He is best known for his 2002 debut O which was certified Gold in the U.S., selling approximately two million copies worldwide, and featuring the songs “Volcano,” “Cannonball,” and “Blower’s Daughter,” the central pieces of music in Mike Nichols’ Oscar-nominated film Closer. My Favourite Faded Fantasy is Rice’s first album in 8 years and was produced by Rick Rubin and Rice.
It was a great concert! It was a great concert! It was a great concert!
I saw Damien at the Marquee Theater in Tempe AZ in the early 00s. It was such an intimate setting, the lights were dim and the stage had candles along the edge. There were seats (usually standing room only). My friend and I were two of the luckiest. It was Damien's O album. We got to have a chat with Damien afterwards. Very friendly. I still have my ticket stub (much cheaper then). If you get a chance, definitely go to one of his shows. It's an experience. Cheers
If you are lucky to get a ticket to his show, you won't regret the experience
Everything and more. My favorite was last! In one of his songs a note that he held wen right through my heart!
Damien Rice has quickly become my favorite artist within the past few years, and it quickly became a priority to make sure I went out and saw it. All i can say was he did not disappoint, one of the best experiences of my life! Not a lot of artists out there like damien.
Thought the sound was perfect but just wished he had shared the profit and payed for a few band members, plus closing the bar early wasn’t my favorite either, at least let us know before hand!
Goosebumps, mixed emotions, great & funny stories. You could tell he was having a great time. Damien Rice is a must see.
As always, Damien Rice put on a wonderful, intimate performance. His talent, and witty personality combine to make a memorable evening. I only felt bad that some of the audience felt so comfortable they began yelling demands to play certain songs instead of allowing him to do his thing.
He created such an intimate show and an awesome connection with the audience. He sang his heart out! Amazing and touching show!
Seeing Damien Rice was like no other concert I have ever seen. It was mind blowing! Please have him come back, for more concerts please! It was so amazing, the only down side was it ended. I wish it would have been longer. ( I saw the 4pm show, it was under 2 hours.) Would see Damien Rice any time, any place! Thank you Damien!
Epic show! Great from start to finish. Damien rice is very entertaining and awesome selection of songs!!
Fantastic Performance by Damien and what a great small venue at town hall NYC Acoustics were great
Damien was great as usual. He is a marvelous songwriter and a wonderful singer. Although his one man show was very engaging and really fun to watch, I can't help but wonder how spectacular it would be with a full band for at least part of the show (can get a glimpse of that for the 2 songs he was accompanied by a cellist). The venue, though, is in need of an upgrade. Also the audience was not behaving all that well, with a lot of people arriving more than an hour late (which caused the show to start late), and constantly creating a disturbance by coming in and going out all the time.
Damien Rice was fantastic again the second time I saw him. Just like the first time he was funny and had a great banter with the crowd between songs and played and sang every song beautifully leaving me in tears by the end because these songs cut deep. This time he also brought a young cellist on stage with him for the final four or five songs and she was great, adding a lot of texture to some of the sparse songs.
From beginning to end, Damien engages the audience with his mix of storytelling and song. His voice is amazing, he takes your breath away leaving you longing for more.
Damien Rice is the best. A lot of nostalgic feelings listening to his songs. His voice is exactly as you would hear from his recordings. Perfect night with the perfect person!
So glad I went to the gig, really fun and emotional experience
Having been a fan of Damien for 8 years and this being my first concert, you can imagine that my expectations for this show are very high. However, Damien still managed to go beyond my expectations. His vocal abilities, his passion and emotions, even his sense of humor, everything is perfect. The guest cellist Ouyang Nana was amazing too. Already looking forward to the next concert. Plz come back to Boston soon!
I can't say enough about how strongly I feel about Damien Rice and his raw talent. He really brings me to tears and I am overwhelmed by his greatness....He's adorable and pretty funny also. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Thanks D.R. <3
Been a Damien Rice fan for a long time. I appreciated that the lack of flash and dazzle made it a real artistic experience from a true artist. I wish people had more respect and courtesy by refraining from yelling out stupid comments, etc. It must be disquieting to the performer
