Excellent! This production of Cabaret was very enjoyable, the singing, dancing, staging all added to a memorable evening. Highly recommended.
My husband and I took your daughter and son in law for his birthday, we all loved the show. The younger generation had never seen Cabaret, on stage or the movie version and we surprised and captivated by the deeper than expected story line.
I had seen Cabaret before, on Broadway even, but this case was every bit as good. Just a fantastic show, except for the awful seating in this theater.
Boring. We were falling asleep in our seats. The theater was wonderful.
I saw this production in London directed by the amazing Sam Mendes. I preferred the theatre in the West End as it was much more intimate which seemed suitable for Cabaret. However, the Chicago production was equally as moving. The acting was very strong especially from the Emcee and Sally Bowles. The contradiction of the gaiety and escapism of the Cabaret versus the suffering and persecution under the rising Nazi regime was so well executed. A must see for those wanting musical theatre with substance. So put down the knitting, the book and the broom - come hear the music play!
Excellent cast and direction. One of the best productions of Cabaret since the original with Alan Cummings. MC Randy Harrison was a blast, and singing was on par with Liza's past performances.
This revival was terrific. Have seen cabaret 4 times now.
I absolutely loved this play! ONE of the best I've been to in a long-time! The cast was superb and the MC was my favorite character!
This was the first time I have seen Cabaret (even the movie version) and I absolutely loved it. All the performers were excellent, but the lead characters were sensational and captivated the audience. Highly recommend.
There were some good performances, from the veteran actors. The lead female needed to be stronger, and at times I was thinking college performance.
I didn't really want to see this show but a friend wanted me to go with her. I was SO glad I went. It was great. The Emcee was fabulous and the production was also. The actor's performances were awesome because none of them tried to over act their parts. So many times I go to a play and the overacting by the actor's are such a turn off. This did not disappoint. The musical performances are the most entertaining parts of the show. A must see!!!
Cabaret was a dark show with humor and major doses of reality. The performers, especially the Emcee, really captivated the audience and it felt like I was at the Kit Kat Club. Of course the music is wonderful. Songs I've heard many times, but to hear the songs in the context of the show was amazing.
Great seats, amazing musicians, beautiful theatre, epic story.
Very simple process to buy the tickets on line and store them on my iPhone, The theatre staff accepted the iPhone pass and printed my tickets at the door. No hassles,
I was lucky enough to see this production twice in one weekend, and it was completely worth flying all the way to Chicago. I was mainly interested in seeing Randy Harrison in his portrayal of the Emcee, and he was phenomenal (as expected). This show is a little darker, grittier, and racier than other versions of Cabaret I've seen. There are some really great comedic moments though (including a lovely song about a certain kind of fruit!). What a talented cast too! The Kit Kat Club dancers are all musicians too! Andrea Goss as Sally was a perfect role too, she has such a strong voice. I loved seeing Randy perform though, his Emcee was sultry, dark, and engaging. He communicated very well with the audience and I really did forget I was sitting in a theatre for 2 hours and 30 minutes. I would see this every night if I could! Please see it.
Great acting, singing, dancing. Man, can she belt out a song! I loved it better than the movie.
An excellent presentation and interpretation of Kander & Ebb's Cabaret. It is a much more realistic rendition of the events of the time and a reminder that these events were real. There a brief ad-lib references to current politics that are very appropriate. The first Act was a little disjointed as I wondered if the actors would be able to embrace their characters. However, the second Act resolved those concerns. This is a show every conscious person should see. Well done.
I did not know much about Cabaret going into the Theater, but Randy Harrison did a phenomenal job as the lead and the entire cast gave an outstanding performance. The show is funny, risque, but has some darker serious and more complex elements to the plot... There is a reason this show has been around as long as it has... *Note: If you drive, they do not do validate parking at the PrivateBank Theatre it is done at 55 E Monroe Garage. Save your ticket stub and be prepared to wait they do not always have someone ready on hand to validate your ticket in the lobby of the garage.
I loved Cabaret, especially the emcee. Everything about this show was spectacular for me. I saw it last time it was here, about 15 years ago. I knew I loved this show, but seeing this production fell really special. I felt that the emcee character (played by Randy Harrison) connected to the audience in a way I didn't experience in the past. I loved every choice Andrea Goss made to make is empathize with her Sally character. It was perfectly marvelous. I'm seeing it a second time on Friday!
