It says all you need to know about Buddy Guy that the music genre that he has come to embody, the Chicago Blues, could never hope to contain him. In the more than 55 years since the Louisiana moved to Chicago and embarked on one of the most influential careers a guitarist could ever hope for (just ask Eric Clapton), Guy is still pushing the envelope of his artistry. But what is remarkable about this Rock N' Roll Hall of Famer is that he isn't sacrificing an iota of his relevancy while doing so. Guy proves it not just in concerts that are as high energy now as they were when he was heralding a rock guitar revolution in the 1960's, but also on the charts. His 2010 musical autobiography-of-sorts Living Proof was the blues legend's highest carting record to date, while his 2013 double disk follow up Rhythm and Blues was #1 on the Blues chart and showed 77-year-old to be every bit the firecracker as guest stars Kid Rock and Arrowsmith. If his last few decades have proven anything, it's that a ticket to a Buddy Guy concert isn't simply a tour through blues history, but an opportunity to see a genre's foremost practitioner still at the top of his game, with as much to say as ever has.
This last show at the Wilber Theater was the best show ever!
Buddy guy the legend ! Awesome show buddy knows how to engage the audience He connects blues history and tells a nice story. I want to see him again ! His contributions are very clear and a joy to listen to.
After all these years Buddy is still a great showman. He and his band were solid.
Buddy Guy was amazing. At 86 years young, the guy has more energy than I do! Amazing music, was very humble and truthful "That;s why he isn't a politician". Very intimate venue to see a legend.
First was the pleasant surprise that Tom Hambridge was the opener for Buddy then played drums for Buddy’s performance. Buddy’s performance was fantastic! He played a medley of old blues tunes from some of the greats including Muddy, BB, and John Lee. Told some great stories to go along with them that made you wonder about the times he spent with them. Of Course Buddy played his own tunes from his long history and was outstanding! He is such a great talent and I am glad I had the opportunity to see him on his final tour.
Very impressed with the venue’s polite and helpful staff, from the doormen and security to the waitstaff. It was a pleasure to sit and immediately be asked if there is anything I need and have it brought to my seat. Sound quality great, seating comfortable, bathrooms clean and spacious. Excellent show which is what I expected with an added bonus of Buddy’s son taking the stage. Found reasonably priced parking around the corner.
Outstanding performance by the legend. The blues ruled Boston that night. If you never seen. Buddy Guy in concert, do so!!!
It was a good time we had good seeds. It was a great Concert Just wished he played more.
Buddy Guy is the master and the real deal. I was truly in awe seeing him.
Great show! I tell everyone about penns peak and how great it is. The prices for tickets food and drinks are not a rip off like other venues I’ve been to. This is my favorite place to see a band. Buddy your were wonderful!
