    This show was unbelievable!

by Han03 on 5/7/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Everyone in the cast was amazingly talented. There was not a moment I didn't enjoy. I recommend this to everyone when it goes to New York. It would be well worth the trip.

    BIG FISH? THROW IT BACK!

by Lohar on 5/7/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Great costumes...great choreography...great venue (the Oriental Theater is breathtaking). The principal performers were excellent, especially Bobby Steggert. But the story - a cross between Wizard of Oz and Willie Loman - is a corny, sentimental, predictable mess. This fish stinks!

Still a work in progress but on it's way to being quite a great show. It will be one of those like Wicked that plays for a long, long time.

Big Fish was cute! Good for kids and adults

by savta10 on 5/7/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The music was very pleasant but forgettable -- The Dad was really good but I didn't see the enthusiasm in many of the other actors. My granddaughter (11 yrs) loved the costuming and the dancing which I also found wonderful. THe scenery was really clever -- We enjoyed the afternoon but we were not blown over by the performance.

For a world premiere, it was very good. It's a little long so needs some trimming though unfortunately what makes the most sense to cut (because the characters we meet never return in the show) is also the Act II open with a bang song. It has a ton of heart, the projections and effects are fantastic, and I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see how it changes before Broadway!

    Excellent

by MikeytheJ on 5/6/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The staging was clever. Overall the production was more than I expected. Book and music were exceptional. Went to see this with my two adult sons and we were all quite" verklempt". This musical should do very well on Broadway. It is an equal to the previous show stoppers!!

    Beautiful Story

by Canada45 on 5/6/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Big Fish was already one of my all time favorite movies, and the way the story was taken from screen to stage was truly phenomenal. The characters were perfectly portrayed and the show had a perfect mix of comedy and raw emotion.

Great adaptation from the movie. However there are some important part missing. What I like the most was the role of Edward Bloom, very well executed. This play leave you with a lot of good insights. You need to see it.

The music was energetic and fun. The cast was phenomenal. The story was very well done in a manner similar to the story line of the movie. The set and costumes were exceptional. Everything together made for such a fantastic show.

The first half of the show was slow with the exception of the witch in the woods. The second half was more upbeat and captivating. In both segments some parts seemed a little corney to me like the cowboy segment.

Nice attempt, but I think it needs work before Broadway. Did not care for the beIly of the catfish bit, and missed the Siamese twins in the USO story. The whole western sequence towards the end should be cut. Music not really memorable. Costumes and special effects were nice.

Big Fish is worthy of Broadway!

by JamiMichelle on 5/6/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

This production was great!! I wasn't sure how the movie would translate into a musical, but they did a great job! The songs were upbeat, fit the story and did not drag out! The main character was amazing (understandable that he won a Tony), the sets were AWESOME, and the pace of the story was just right. I did think the movie's ending was more powerful than this version, but still awesome nonetheless! Completely recommend!
