Atlanta Hawks History
The lineage of the Hawks dates to 1946, when, as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, they played in the NBA's forerunner, the National Basketball League. They moved to Milwaukee in 1951, shortening their name, and then to St. Louis in 1955. They made the NBA finals four times in a five-year stretch, defeating the Boston Celtics to capture the franchise's only title in 1958. In 13 seasons in St. Louis, the Hawks missed the playoffs only once.
After moving to Atlanta in 1968, the Hawks' postseason runs continued for five years, fueled by the likes of Pete Maravich, Lou Hudson and Walt Bellamy. In 1976, Ted Turner bought the team and installed Hubie Brown as coach, and by his second season, the team was again a playoff contender. The Dominique Wilkins era began in 1982, with "The Human Highlight Film" leading the team to four straight 50-win seasons beginning with the 1985–86 season.
The arrival of Dikembe Mutombo helped the Hawks continue to make postseason runs in the late 1990s, but the new millennium brought a difficult eight-year dry spell. That ended with the 2007–08 season, the first of 10 consecutive years in which they earned a playoff berth.
In 2018, the team drafted Trae Young. He led the team with 29.6 points and 9.3 assists per game in his second season. During the 2021–22 regular season, Young led all of the NBA in total points (2,155) and total assists (737). During the postseason, the Atlanta Hawks went on an incredible playoff run, led by Young, that saw them advance to the Eastern Conference Finals where they lost to eventual NBA Champions Milwaukee Bucks.

We had a Great Time in ATL, Food and The Experience in the Players Club was amazing!! Big Shoutout to Matt from Atlanta Hawks from Sales- Chef Mark Uy
I had a good time in the arena security was very good and felt safe. The food was good and the was a classic.
I had a great experience at the game and witnessed Luka hit 73 points in a historic performance
Nobody wants to pay that much to be mean mugged and barked at
We are the best team in the league. I can’t wait to bring the Championship home.
It was a great game. Everyone enjoyed it. Tickets are really pricy. Fans have been awesome
Our experience at State Farm Arena (SFA) was great except for the pizza (which is always bad). The pizza in Truist Park is excellent. You might want to look at getting that food vendor for SFA.
Great time, lot of fun, really excited to go back again
No complaints from Ticketmaster. The arena itself could use some staffing improvements. Having some better customer service would’ve been ideal, TicketMaster was not an issue. Will most definitely do business again.!
As we were told, it’s not only the game itself, but also everything that comes with it that makes one single match a great show
Had family come to town that wanted to go to the game at the last minute. We were able to find great seats at a great price for all of us together.
My family and I had a wonderful night together. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the activities associated with the Atlanta Hawks Basketball team.
I loved going to this gane. However, I personally think that scheduling games the night before Thanksgving is a little bit off. An afternoon start would hav been better.
State Farm Arena is a world class venue to see a basketball game.
Everything I expected it was great I appreciate the hospitality that shown by the staff the food was awesome and beer was cold I can't wait until I'm free to attend another game
Being around the nba is always outstanding, great show
It was an amazing experience, very entertaining. No long lines everything was just perfect.
This was my first live NBA game and I don't think you can top that experience. Very close game. Easy to find the seats. The entertainment between the timeouts and breaks was extraordinary. The whole event felt more like 45 minutes then 2h or more. Loved it!
Had a ball this is the 2nd game I came to the first Knicks V. Hawks in January now I’m back in October and we got one more to go on November 15 Go Knicks!!! Oh and we won too 120-126 😂
