This was my husband & my first time going to an Atlanta Ballet. Production together. Having experienced ballets in other cities & other dance performances in Atlanta, we were blown away at the skill, creativity, & the fresh influence of modern dance that shined through. Beautiful & unforgettable!
The ballet was great!! It was my wife first time going and she enjoyed it. I enjoyed it also it was really fantastic.
If I only had to rate the dancers and the orchestra, I would have given a rating of 5 stars because they were incredible and inspiring. However, due to the focus being placed on friar Laurence's twisted soul I found it disappointing.
Although some of the scenes got a little long to me, I enjoyed the show ever all. The dancers were superb and the orchestra was outstanding!
Dancers were amazing, special effects awesome. Great costumes and the orchestra was absolutely beautiful.
What a wonderful performance! The dancers were brilliant and the Ophelia "death dance" alone was worth the price of admission. I'm not normally a fan of Phillip Glass' music, but it added so much to the theatricality of the dance. The music and the story melded beautifully. I loved the choreography.
The performers and music exceeded our expectations. The orchestra was probably the star of the show for us.
Performers were fantastic as well as the orchestra. This adaptation was very intriguing.
Great perfomance with interesting interpretation of a classic story. This was my wifes first ballet and she really enjoyed it.
It took forever to realize who was who in this ballet. We were appalled at the groping of the cast members. We left at intermission. We were hoping for a night of romance and culture and did not come close to that with this ballet!
Unforgettable! The best way to spend Valentine's Day while viewing a flawless performance.
Wonderful!! It brought the story to life for my teen. So nice for a beautiful Sunday out for mom and daughter to dress up.
I brought a friend to this performance and it was his first experience seeing the ballet. I was embarrassed and distressed to have taken him!! The advertisement for this production says there are lavish costumes and setting and there is anything but. The scenery is Stark, bare white walls that gives an Institutionalized impression. The choreography was quite poor, but it was even hard to tell that because the women wore long black and brown flowing gowns that covered their legs. You literally could not see their legs. The opening act makes absolutely no sense and there is even a part where the Frair puts himself in the pose of Jesus Christ on the cross. Is he trying to say that his disappointment at what happened to the star crossed lovers is equal to the sacrifice that Christ made? I have no idea what the director and choreographer were thinking. Not only do I wish I could get my money back, but I wish my memory of this could be erased!! Clearly, in no uncertain terms, I do not recommend Atlanta Ballet Companies Romeo and Juliet!
This interpretation of Romeo and Juliette was very creative! The orchestra was wonderful . Love love love the Cobb Energy Center!! Great performance. Lovely afternoon .
I had a great time watching this ballet performance. The different Love stories that were involved were great, i thought it was too short, I wanted more!!!
I was familiar with the overture to Carmina Burana, but beyond that, I only had an idea of what I might see. The entire experience from the dancers to the orchestra to the live choir was amazing. Not entirely what I expected, which made it all the more interesting. I also really enjoyed the first performance of the evening, Petal.
An excellent blend of dance and chorale singing! Very different presentation of a ballet! That was exciting and energizing.
Atlanta Ballet Presents Carmina Baruna...and presents it well. David Bintley brings his vision to the stage in Atlanta and the synthesis of music, movement and staging is superb. The Cantata most noted for providing college bands with the "third and long song" O Fortuna is a remarkable work considering it survived in Germany even with Goebbels taut approval and remains popular even as Orff is damned as despicable. Beautiful work by Atlanta Ballet, wonderful orchestral and a chorus that filled the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre with all the wonder a staged, live and living performance can bring. Unique, I was still humming pieces of the work until I wandered into the lobby to hear the Bee Gees wailing away on Saturday Night Fever drivel. Contradiction in terms. Where is John Travolta when you need him?
I saw the 2:00 pm showing of Petal & Carmina Burana on April 13. I took my Mother to this event because I had enjoyed ballet so much I was hoping this would be an equal experience, and we certainly weren't disappointed. Everything from the music to the ballet itself was spot on and wonderful! I highly recommend this ballet to anyone.
