About

Lurching back into Chicago for a return engagement, THE ADDAMS FAMILY is a smash-hit musical comedy that brings the darkly delirious world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley and, of course, Lurch to spooky and spectacular life. This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, Drama Desk-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and Olivier Award-winning director/designers Phelim McDermott & Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter) with creative consultation by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks. Come meet the family. We'll leave the lights off for you.

This show was really good. I was pleasantly surprised. It was very humorous...not too corny. The whole family enjoyed. Our kids, ages 12 & 14, really liked. Our 14 year-old son said he really liked it and he thought he would hate it. Neither one of our kids were familiar with the TV show.

    Addams Family

by Chicagotheatre on 1/3/12Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I was disappointed in this performance. I saw the original with Nathan Lane and there was alot more tango dancing, alot more personality., and I dont remember it all being around Wednesday. Thing, Cousin IT etc., werent an active part either in it. Although....GOMEZ was wonderful! I feel they ruined an original performance by changing it!

    great show

Would have given the show a 5 star but they took out one of my fave songs "second banana but 6 songs were added. The pace was faster which I enjoyed as did my grandchildren. Also Morticia seemed to have difficulty in perrforming the final dance number she may have an injury but it was oviously flawed by her dane capabilies. Reguardless it was a great fun show maybe I am hyper critical I was seated in the 4th row center.

Gomez stole the show but so did Morticia's chest

    by bethie76 on 1/3/12Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I found this musical to be very over-priced but it was definitely funny! The actor who played Gomez stole the show. He was hilarious and his comedic timing was perfect. The rest of the cast was good too but I have to be honest...the dress that the actress who played Morticia was wearing was highly distracting. I get that it's supposed to be low cut but the entire show I was waiting for her chest to come flying out. She couldn't dance the way she was supposed to due to this dress and it was obvious.

    The Addams Family was Awesome!

by PlayLadyReviewer on 1/3/12Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The Addams Family was very entertaining. The songs were all great. The actors were stupendous! I especially enjoyed Uncle Fester being in love with the moon. The storyline was sweet. I loved the musical more than I loved the actual television series. Whether you saw the actual television series or not, this is a musical anyone would enjoy. I attended the January 1, 2012 showing, and it was a great way to start the year. It was well worth the money. I had great seats and could see the stage with no problem. I would definitely go again if I had the opportunity.

Very good show. It was a comedy and was funny. I have seen other musicals with the actors having fuller voices so that was the only drawback.
