About

Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singer-songwriters in history, releasing 68 studio albums and 10 live albums. He wrote his first song at the age of seven and joined his first band at ten, playing concerts as a lead singer and guitar player while still in high school. He spent the ā€˜50s and ā€˜60s writing songs for established acts such as Ray Price and Patsy Cline, as well as releasing a string of albums on Liberty and RCA beginning with his debut ā€¦And Then I Wrote in 1962. In 1973, he signed to Atlantic Records and put out Shotgun Willie, which veered into outlaw country, a stark contrast from the mainstream Nashville sound and clean-cut country artists of the era. 1975ā€™s Red Headed Stranger and 1978ā€™s Stardust followed on Columbia Records, both garnering commercial and critical success. The ā€˜80s saw the release of No. 1 albums Honeysuckle Rose, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Always on My Mind, and The Promiseland, as well as Nelson joining Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson in the country supergroup The Highwaymen, touring and releasing three studio albums between 1985 and 1995. Nelson continues to release a new album almost every year and delight ticket buyers in live shows to this day.

    Too short

by Mema on 5/18/24Pinewood Bowl Theater - Lincoln

Willie was great but a 1 hour concert was way too short. He still sounds great and his guitar playing was amazing!

    Great Music; Venue Location Poor

by CodyWYOlderMan on 5/18/24Pinewood Bowl Theater - Lincoln

The concert was great, very enjoyable, and the actual Pinewood Bowl is a great place to listen to a musical performance. At 91 Willie still puts on a good show! However, the Pinewood Bowl is located in a city park that only has two entrances/exits. If you attend a show there plan on slow motor vehicle travel for entering and exiting.

    Wondering Why

by Tuner on 5/18/24Pinewood Bowl Theater - Lincoln

I didnā€™t expect Willie to sing well, he is 91. But his guitar playing, lack of making any kind of connection with the audience, and only an hour long performance was highly disappointing. If he canā€™t put on a better show than that he should not be touring. Thanks for all the music you have made over the year, Willie, but itā€™s time for you to step down.
