Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved.
Their win totals increased in each of their first four seasons. Led by Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star, they reached the playoffs for the first time in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for five consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the Miami HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to three straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals.

Very good experience. Everyone was involved in the game and there were events between the breaks.
Team loss but the experience will be remembered. Loved it!
The environment is electric start to finish! The staff puts on a great pregame and keeps it up the entire game!
Ambiance was amazing! Great game, crowd was great! Even though the mavs lost it was so much fun!
Premier match de NBA pour nous, c'était incroyable, magique !
It’s fine except for the crowd yelling vile profanity even when there’s kids around. Definitely not a kid friendly event. Maybe they should setup tickets to allow a section that is more for kid friendly zone, where the behavior can have less profane yelling. I’m not talking about a few profane language here and there, I'm talking about grown adults yelling explicits with graphic details of where the refs can put it.
Very easy and convenient access, plenty of space and options to get to my seat, fast concessions and lots of staff guiding you.
everyone was so nice. The atmosphere was incredible. I’m a big basketball & Mark Cuban fan and to see his facility & how clean/ neat it is, I will be back. Best NBA game i’ve ever been to. An incredible experience. Shout out to Cody for calling me & checking on my experience also! Go Mavs!
Good seats, section 312. Prompt delivery and easy ticket accept and load.
The experience was great really enjoyed it. The seats and view were really good and glad they won as well. Would love to do it again
