Zeds Dead on Tour
Veterans of the EDM festival circuit, Toronto's Zeds Dead are masters of unleashing singles to the masses to get everyone stoked for their live show. And over the summer of 2019, they dropped multiple tracks to do just that. The frenetic "Lift You Up," an accelerated synth-punk sprint that's liable to turn the dance tent into a mosh pit. "Rescue" — a collaboration with Dutch producer Dion Timmer and Toronto diva Delaney Jane — splits the difference between bass-wobbled beats and edgy alt-rock energy. But "Stars Tonight" — featuring Dutch duo DROELOE — leaps from piano-laced serenity to future-bass freakery, with heart-racing ascents and queasy drops that ensure their sets strike the right balance of euphoria and anarchy.
Zeds Dead in Concert
The Toronto-based duo of Dylan Mamid (aka DC) and Zachary Rapp-Rovan (aka Hooks) first came together in the mid-2000s under the name Mass Productions, a project steeped in their love of boom-bapped hip-hop. But as EDM came to dominate the city's club scene at the turn of the decade, the duo caught the wave and rebranded themselves Zeds Dead (a quote from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction). While the 2010 single "Rude Boy" captures them still transitioning out of old-school breaks toward nu-rave sonics, the series of EPs they released through Diplo's Mad Decent imprint over the course of 2012 and 2014 saw them change things up. They retrofitted their sound for the festival circuit (take, for example, the steep drops and subterranean bass of "Hadouken"), and they also initiated alt-rock crossovers with the likes of Twin Shadow and Perry Farrell. After launching their own label, Deadbeat, Zeds Dead released their first proper album statement, the Juno Award–nominated Northern Lights, in 2016, with a wildly eclectic guest list (Diplo, Pusha T, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo) that speaks to their ever-evolving fusion of sun-dappled EDM, gritty rap production and rock power.

The Zeds Dead First Contact show at Hampton Coliseum was amazing!!!! It was my first time traveling out to Hampton. I got to see my friends, meet many new friends, for the shared love of music. Also- Zeds Dead sets were aammmmazingggg!!! Production and sound were on point, the crowd had good vibes-nobody had stinky attitudes out of all of the people I encountered. Will definitely be returning to Hampton, and I hope the Deadbeats fam does again too!!
what you want from a show. amazing, i hope they do it again!
Zeds slayed the Chicago 3-peat. Hooks threw down loved it
I’ve seen a handful of popular artists in the same/similar genre. Subtronics, Svdden Death, Deadmau5, Rezz, and this one by far was the least entertaining. Literally just going on stage, pressing play, and just standing there during their set. The only time they got on the mic or engaged with the crowd was the quick “thank you” at the end. Just felt like a waste of time and money. Could’ve just had the same experience with a Spotify playlist.
Honestly didn’t listen to much zedds dead before but I loved it they were great the visuals were great the venue was great. What an experience
Zeds Dead shreds as always. These guys are one of the best live shows going. Cool venue too. My first time at the salt shed. Thank you Zeds Dead!
Zeds Dead has always played some of the most amazing shows when they come to Chicago. I always look forward to their announcements of when they come play here in Chicago because I never miss a single show. They are always so consistent and if you have never seen them play live then you should do yourself a favor and catch them while they are in town. Much love.
zeds dead never disappoints, i go to see them every chance i get and will continue to do so
I bought 4 for working people Thursday night. If I would have known the start time (11:30) in advance, I never would have bought them. So we didn’t get to see Zed’s Dead!! Communication!! You get an F…!!
Zeds Dead always puts on such a phenomenal show, i love how you get a variety of all that you love to hear, it’s a medicine for the soul.
Hope Zeds Dead continues coming back to this every year. I enjoying seeing them every year, but this year has been the best by far.
Was beyond amazing there was so much space and seating to have your mind melted the boys did a set to shout out the bulls and made coming back to Chicago feel like home 💚
I’ve been a fan now for over 10 years now, they know how to put on a show each & every time. Really moving the crowd emotionally throughout the set. Thank you for always putting on an incredible performance mad love for the boys. Till next time !
This show and the warmup artist both were so sick. I really love Zed's Dead, and they did not disappoint. Was very excited they had merch available, too!
Didn’t really have high hopes since it’s a festival Afterparty, but Zeds Dead dropped the best set I’ve ever seen in 6 the shows I’ve gone AND the best show I’ve ever been to period. Such an intimate and amazing atmosphere.
it was perfect perfect perfect. always a good time when they boys are in town
First EDM show with my co-workers that average 10 years younger than me. The venue was welcoming to movement, the crowd was welcoming to newbies, the bartenders were absolutely amazing and each set gave me eargasms! Zeds Dead, Rossy, Outage...all phenomenal!
I had an amazing time with the pew pew lasers and the womp womp noises
Beautiful venue with great sound. All the artists killed it!
