Yola On Tour

Yola is an award-winning British singer/songwriter whose expansive music spans multiple genres. Born by the name of Yolanda Claire Quartey on July 31, 1983, the self-taught musician started her career as young as 13 when she learned how to play the guitar and began writing her own songs one year later. Her debut EP, 2019's Walk Through Fire, reached No. 1 on UK's Americana Top 40 sales chart, generated three Grammy Award nominations, and earned consideration for Album of the Year at the Americana Music Honors & Awards. The title track, "Walk Through Fire," won the Best American Roots Song award with critical acclaim for its fierce lyrics and raw emotion. Fans came from far and wide to watch Yola on tour performing her breakthrough album, making appearances at the Newport Folk Festival, and opening for artists including Greta Van Fleet and Old Crow Medicine Show. Her sophomore album, Stand For Myself, dropped in July 2021 and peaked at No. 6 on Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums chart. It features Yola's new, exciting vocal choices while maintaining the same powerful pipes that she's become known for.

Yola in Concert

Yola grew up surrounded by music in Bristol, England. Her mother was a folk singer who performed at local festivals and invited young Yola onstage to join in. Before launching her career as a solo artist, she sang in a local Bristol band and has a long history of working as a backup vocalist for major musical acts, including a 2015 collaboration with Massive Attack on the track "Ritual Spirit." Yola released her debut solo EP Orphan Offering as an independent artist in November of 2016, followed by the three singles -- "Walk Through Fire," "Shady Grove," and "Love All Night (Work All Day)" -- that she'd later release on her second EP Walk Through Fire. The 12-track studio album was released in February 2019 on the Easy Eye Sound label and distributed by Nonesuch Records to much critical acclaim. Stand For Myself was also well-received and hit No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. You can experience her stunning emotional breadth and see Yola on tour across the country.

    Better Live

    by A. V. on 7/1/22

It is very rare to see an artist live and walk away saying, "OMG she was so much better live than her albums!" I love her albums and sound but her singing live is a whole other level. It's unbelievable.

    Stellar Performance

by Chi Chi on 4/19/22Ace of Spades - Sacramento

Yola is a force, a FORCE! Vocals were powerful and just a beautiful listen. I can't wait to hear future projects from her, she is really genre-fluid and has a great personality too. I am so glad I was able to catch her at such an intimate venue.

One of the most powerful performances I've ever experienced

by Adam on 4/18/22Ace of Spades - Sacramento

Honestly, do yourself a favor and see her as soon as you can. She connects with the audience on every level and has the most powerful voice I've ever witnessed - hitting me right in the soul. Her seamless blending of soul, country, classic rock, and even folk music is top notch! Thank you, Yola!

    Good show

by JMIII on 4/18/22Ace of Spades - Sacramento

Great voice, she played guitar as well which was cool to see, the opening act was had a great voice his music was a little to churchy for me though - I don’t usually listen to spiritual music while drinking gin and tonic. However, Yola was great I bought a signed copy of her recent record to spin at home. I was surprised with how few people were there.

Yola - An artist you need to know

by Christo on 4/10/22The Depot - Salt Lake City

If you go to concerts to see an entertainer, not just a musical performance, you need to take in a Yola show. It will blow you away. Great voice, great stage presence, great show; she is a force. Equally impressed with her band and the number of guitars she played during the show.

She’s one of the best live performers I have ever seen. She should be far more famous than she is. So lucky to see her in such an intimate setting.

    Yola

by MickySean on 4/8/22The Depot - Salt Lake City

Yola is fantastic and I really enjoy my times at the Depot. We danced the night away and we’re all smiles when leaving. I only wish that the 21 and over could be downstairs and the younger stronger could hike those stairs lol. I (really) have no complaints the bartenders and other employees are always professional and welcoming. I will continue to come back often.

Great venue for an amazing singer

by Crazy Sloth Lady on 4/8/22Madrid Theatre - Kansas City

I have never been to the Madrid before and I love Yola, so the whole experience was amazing. The venue was smaller thus more intimate which made the show even more amazing.

    What a show!

by apocalipstick on 4/1/22Madrid Theatre - Kansas City

I saw Yola at the Ryman in Nashville, and didn't think it could get any better, but at the Madrid, she tore the roof off the sucker. Maybe it was the smaller venue, which resulted in a crowd that was much closer to the stage, maybe it was three weeks of shows, but whatever, the band was in fine form (both loose and tight), and Yola was a powerhouse. By the encore medley, she had the whole house jumping. Special mention should be made of opener Jac Ross, who did a great job of introducing himself to the crowd while setting the table for Yola. Check him out; you'll be glad you did.

by Melanie on 4/1/22Madrid Theatre - Kansas City

If you are not listening to Yola, you are seriously missing out. I loved the smaller, more intimate feel of this venue, I had never been there before and it had a cool vibe and was very clean. A big love for me, definitely in my top 5 of all time.

    Watched a diamond shine

    by ms.edesign on 3/24/22Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

From the anticipation to the day the experience was everything and more. Maybe it was the perfect weather, or the Nashville vibe, but seeing Yola's first show with Allison Russell was incredible. I can't say more how I love her talent and showmanship. Then there's the Ryman. I had found the double rainbow this night. The venues staff sure made my night unforgettable. Learning about the venues wooden acoustics capability was perfect. The sound, gifted artists and staff were a perfect package for a beautiful night.

    Absolutely Brilliant!

by DavidM on 3/23/22The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

Yola’s Charleston performance was absolutely spellbinding! The venue, The Charleston Music Hall, is a comfortable intimate theater and we had 5th row center seats. She performed nearly all of her songs: Barely Alive Dancing Away In Tears Be My Friend Starlight Break the Bough Stand for Myself Acoustic interval: Whatever You Want Shady Grove Faraway Look It Ain’t Easier And: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Daydreaming - Aretha Sweet Love - Anita Baker The audience was a mix of young and old and we were all under her spell, dancing and cheering. As a matter of fact the whole audience was standing, dancing, and cheering for the last four songs. It was right up there with the best performances I’ve ever experienced!

    STAR,LIGHT the way!

by Cait on 3/21/22The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

I'm thoroughly convinced my best friend and I got to witness a star just beginning to shine, and I can't wait to see the shooting star that is Yola light the way for our entire genre fluid generation! Safe to say, Yola's show was nothing short of phenomenal. It was both mine and my friend's first show together, and the first time either of us had been to a show at the Charleston Music Hall. We felt so lucky that Yola was the first artist we saw in concert together, particularly at this venue, for a few important reasons. First, the smaller venue allowed for Yola's voice to be heard so clearly and amplified beautifully. What's more- as we felt the chills run down our spines with every high note, we knew we caught Yola at just the right time. I don't know if she'll ever be back at this venue. It's too small for that bright of a star. Am important note to be made regarding the size of the venue, however: for a smaller performance hall, the crowd ranged from 20s-50+. The age range was noticeable, and honestly, quite refreshing. Given Yola's warm and infectious personality, power house vocals, and ability to connect with a wide audience, she is so obviously destined for bigger stages, and we are so excited to see her in even brighter lights. But we will always remember this show with such fondness, and are so grateful we could see her perform in this more intimate setting. We can't wait to sing and dance to more of your genre fluid goodness, baby!

From the first chord sung she captivated the audience and for the next 90 minutes she delivered a star performance. She is amazing and I am so glad we were present to enjoy her. She has a voice that is second to none touring today.

    Stellar Show

by Dink on 3/15/22Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

Yola was incredible! This was our second time seeing her. I encourage everyone to give her records a listen. She’s country, soul, old school pop, r&b, rock, folk and she sings like no one else! Her opener, Jac Ross was awesome as well. He definitely made some new fans! The venue was great! Nicest security team and staff of any concert I’ve attended.

    Great show - bad venue

    by Yola4Life on 3/15/22Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

yola was phenomenal as expected. she has such a powerful and beautiful voice, and a solid band to back her up. however, the venue (taft theater ballroom) was below average. it had to have been 80-82 degrees the whole time. i myself was uncomfortable and dripping sweat for the entire concert. i even saw people LEAVE because it was so hot. in summary…yola was unbelievably amazing, the venue was not.
