X Games Aspen Musical Performances

Every winter since 1997, the greatest athletes in snow sports have come together for the X Games, a thrilling, gravity-defying showcase of extreme skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. And every year, X-Fest — the cultural component of the Games — brings the biggest names in pop music to perform before raucous, snowbound crowds on outdoor stages built especially for the event. 

2019 is no different, as once again the Winter X Games descend on Buttermilk Mountain in epic Aspen, Colorado, for four days of extreme sports and awesome music. Featuring impeccable audio production and eye-popping visual effects and pyrotechnics in a gorgeous slopeside setting, X-Fest is the ultimate fusion of progressive music and progressive sports. X Games officials announced the 2019 festival's musical lineup and, as usual, it's stacked: Lil Wayne, The Chainsmokers, Louis the Child, and Kygo are all playing live during the weekend of January 25-27.

As one of the top-selling hip-hop artists of all time, Lil Wayne needs no introduction. He returns to the X Games on the heels of ‘Tha Carter V,' which was released in September 2018 as Lil Wayne's fourth No. 1 album and 12th overall. Beyond his iconic status in the hip-hop pantheon, Wayne is an avid and longstanding street skater, bringing his love of the sport to the festival stage. 

Also returning to X-Fest are The Chainsmokers and Kygo. The former is the New York City-based duo of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart, who helped usher in the pop-EDM crossover with crowd-pleasing, dance-inflected hits like "#Selfie" and "Closer." The latter is Norwegian DJ/producer/songwriter Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, a self-taught musical prodigy who was ranked the No. 3 DJ in the world by Billboard in 2018.

DJ/production duo Louis the Child hails from Chicago and comprises Frederic Kennett and Robert Hauldren, who've taken their rhythmically unique pop EDM to stages at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Ultra. This is Louis the Child's first X Games appearance and will surely add another high-energy contribution from one of the leading lights of pop music.
