The Hall of Fame Class of 2014 ceremony was a great event to attend. New Orleans did an excellent job of getting everyone in, but once the event started, the main screen behind the speakers refused to work for most of the night, causing those who were not seated close to the stage to not be able to see the presenter very well. Not the fault of the arena, I am figuring since everything else worked.
The speeches ran a little long at time, but as it is an induction ceremony, there is an expectation that the speeches will be long as this is essentially a "lifetime achievement" award. Mr. T actually got cut off from his speech as he began to ramble a bit during his speech.
The ceremony now means a bit more due to the fact that the Ultimate Warrior was the main inductee. After more than 18 years away from WWE, he took his place in the Hall of Fame and attended both Wrestlemania XXX the following night and Monday Night Raw a day after that. The next day, he passed away of what appears to be a massive heart attack. This gives this Hall of Fame induction a now sense of release for Ultimate Warrior, who had left WWE on poor terms and his return allowed him to pass on freely. It didn't make the event itself any different, but his passing now makes the event even more special.
This was my 3rd Wrestlemania weekend in 4 years. If you are going to attend Wrestlemania weekend, the Hall of Fame ceremony is a must-go. While it is not wrestling per-say, it does give the fans, especially the younger fans, a chance to be reminded of what made WWE great in the past and show us the names and faces of who made it popular for fans today.
