Great performance
by Yiska on 10/23/13Webster Hall - New YorkDespite the hours of standing still and waiting for the performances, I have to say that the overall experience was a very enjoyable one. The opening act with Thomas Azier was surprisingly great for such a newcomer: his powerful voice and 80's style beats energized the crowd which is crucial for setting the tone for the rest of the night. I have never heard this artist before, but after hearing him sing, he will surely gain a lot of attention in the U.S. if he continued to tour. The night began wonderfully, and ended just the same. Listening to Woodkid's Golden Age album via non-live platforms gives one the impression that everything sounds a bit too similar. However, his live performance was on a whole new level. He knows what he likes, and you can tell through his use of stage lighting, colors, background projections and general musical aesthetics. He did not waste time buttering up the crowd inbetween songs with sentimental babble, which was much appreciated. The music was loud, his voice was clear, and I hope that one day he can get a full orchestra. It was a great night, and I will definitely recommend this to a friend.
