About

Wolf Parade's first full-length album, Apologies to the Queen Mary, was released to great acclaim in September, 2005. A pop/indie rock outfit from Montreal, Wolf Parade stand out for the unique, engaging vocal work of their two singers, Spencer King and Dan Boeckner, and the inventive instrumentation on many of their songs such as the use of a theremin (an unusual electronic instrument played by moving one's hands near its two antennas). The group has also won word-of-mouth support from fans through their engaging live shows, and have toured with such well known as headliners as Modest Mouse and The Arcade Fire. Living up to the anticipation and expectations surrounding their debut, Wolf Parade are one of indie rock's most exciting and promising new bands.

    Epic sunday night show

    by Horseface11 on 7/19/10First Avenue - Minneapolis

Wolf Parade was excellent dispite the mellow sunday night crowd. Wolf Parade made a good selection of old & new songs to balance out the taste of the listener. In conclusion, it was the best possible way to end a long weekend.

Wolf Parade is one of the best live bands working today. Even the songs that are less memorable on their CDs are unforgettable in person.

One of the best shows I've seen at 1st Ave!!!! The band was very, VERY tight last night, and their energy permeated thoughout the room. I would go back and see them again in a heartbeat!

Wolf Parade plays an incredible live show. If you're a fan of their music or any of Spencer Krug's other bands you should definitely go see this band.

Wolf Parade/Moools Delivers and then some!

by Zudbone on 7/16/10Beachland Ballroom - Cleveland

Over the past few years I've heard nothing but great things about the shows at the Beachland Ballroom & Tavern. Over the past 4 months or so I have been able to experience the Beachland for the first time seeing three show. All three have been memorable to say the least. With that being said I was just so moved by the music that came forth at the Wolf Parade/Moools show. I heard about Moools through a friend but getting to see this 3 piece pound out their love for rock and roll was certainly one of the best opening bands I have seen in the 40 years of my life. I seriously almost wept at the intensity that they brought to the stage within the first song itself. They won the love of the crowd and I was feeling like these guys deserved and encore. 5 stars to this band out of Tokyo. I had originally planned on attending the Iron Maiden show at Blossom which was set for the same night as Wolf Parade. But having seen Iron Maiden several times in the 80's I decided that this may be my only shot at catching Wolf Parade live. I was not let down nor did I even think that I would be. I was incredibly impressed at the love and passion of music that these 4 gentlemen bring. What great persona they share with the crowd and you feel the warmth of their kindnesses in between the chest pounding riffs and swelling keyboard sounds that steal you away moment by moment. I have only been made to be a devoted fan of these guys. There is something to be said about a band that brings the music and also makes you feel appreciated for coming out to see them. They let you know that at the end of every song through their smiles and gestures and not because they have to but because they love to. Their intent to make great music is undeniable as well as give their hearts to the crowd for a few hours. Thanks to the Beachland Staff as well for just being a five star group of the friendliest workers I've ever experienced in the music arena. Cheers!

    Absolutely amazing

    by jeanine372 on 7/16/10Beachland Ballroom - Cleveland

Loved every minute, every note. I don't know how some people in the audience just stood there and watched. I couldn't stop moving! The guys rocked. They were friendly and funny and we hope it won't be too long before they come back to see us in Cleveland.

    Wolf Parade rocks Terminal 5

by eRobin on 7/14/10Terminal 5 - New York

Perfect show, perfect venue. Terminal 5 gets hammered for having bad sightlines but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary last night. Had a seat on the railing of the first balcony and couldn't have been happier. Sound was great too. I'd return to Terminal 5 tonight if I could. Warm up acts Zola Jesus and the Moools were strong - definitely into the whole playing NYC thing. Crowd was supportive. Wolf Parade were amazing - humble as heck and rocked every song. Wished the played Language City.

wolf parade suffers from bad sound

by onalark on 7/14/10Terminal 5 - New York

the first opening act was uninspiring and forgettable. the second was just terrible... it seemed that their only aim was to make as much noise as possible, and to be as annoying as possible... completely loud, off key, really really bad singer. wolf parade itself wasn't bad, it seems, but the sound was so terrible that it's hard to tell. very muffled... instruments weren't clear, and all the voices blended together in a not good way. really bad acoustics. unfortunate because it seemed like they would have sounded great if some sound adjustments had been made!!

Wolf Parade is a Great Live Show

by MeggerzV on 7/14/10Terminal 5 - New York

They weren't very talkative with the audience, but that doesn't matter because Wolf Parades music dominated the night. It was impressive to see the singers switch off. Both have unique tones and make for an enjoyable listening experience. My only complaint . . . the crowd was catatonic. I thought NYC would have had more in her. Anyway, great show. Check them out. I would be most curious to see them in a festival setting like Bonnaroo or Summer Camp.

    Underwhelming

by coldfingaz on 7/14/10Terminal 5 - New York

Good band, but too much new material was pushed last night. The brand new record may be fine, but those tunes are still largely unfamiliar & they lacked the same hooks or response the earlier stuff delivered. This hurt them especially early on, and they never fully recovered from it. They never got to the point of really setting the room on fire, and the energy was sucked out a few different times by over-doing the new. They would have fared better if they sprinkled in new tunes with the same occasional frequency they went back to old familiar ground. It was gutsy to focus on the new record as much as they did, but this approach probably would have translated a lot better in a smaller room.... where they could've gotten away with playing the entire record from start to finish if that's what they wanted to do.

    good show - lame crowd

by shpongled on 7/13/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

I really wish people would stop the clapping. I don't go to the show to hear you clapping in my ear.. let the band play and give them the respect they deserve. And those guys shouting "This Modern Love"... is that really what you came for?
