About

WOLF ALICE IN CONCERT:

British indie rockers Wolf Alice marry dreamy pop melodies to psychedelic sonic textures to create a complex yet catchy sound that is sure to fascinate audiences. At the band’s live shows singer Ellie Rowsell alternates between singsong verses and screamed choruses to brilliantly enact her impassioned lyrics. With their cranked amplifiers and well-orchestrated blasts of feedback, the rest of the band matches every emotional twist and turn the singer conjures. While these aggressive elements are part of their calling card, they maintain a controlled vibe with composed loud-quiet dynamics and group harmonies that give songs like “Moaning Lisa Smile” a surprisingly sweet edge. As Wolf Alice hits the road to promote their 2015 debut My Love Is Cool, ticket buyers will be treated to an up-and-coming band that is poised to take over the alternative music scene.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Wolf Alice formed in 2010 around core members singer/guitarist Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie, eventually growing to include drummer Joey Amey and bassist Theo Ellis. Things rapidly picked up for the North London quintet in 2012 when their digital single “Leaving You” received considerable radio play on BBC Radio 1 and a mention in NME’s Radar section. Their first physical single “Fluffy” arrived in 2013 followed later that year by their debut EP Blush. The releases garnered praise from several respected news outlets such as The Observer and Clash, and in 2014 Wolf Alice was named the Best Breakthrough Artist at the UK Festival Awards. In early 2015 the group released the single “Giant Peach” off their forthcoming full-length debut My Love Is Cool, whetting fans’ appetites for the album’s July release.

Throughout their career, Wolf Alice have drawn massive crowds of fans, packing venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre and The Fillmore to capacity.

Great performance by an up and coming band. If you love or like their music, you won't be disappointed. If you aren't familiar with Wolf Alice, go see them, and you'll come away a fan. The Old National is a great, intimate forum to see live music.

Wolf Alice and Slaves were amazing

A high energy show in a small venue is what we came for and exactly what we got. I hope both bands come back to Indy in their next tours.

    Underwhelming overall

by JEF02135 on 4/6/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

The opening act, the Slaves, were great. High energy, clear audio, funny commentary. We were very excited to see Wolf Alice, but once they started, you couldn't hear a thing. Her mic was not high enough to get through the guitar and bass. There was also an echo sound that made her singing indistinguishable. For an hour of singing, I could probably only make out a dozens words. We left early. Very disappointed with the show.

    Wolf Alice with Slaves UK

by miked9us on 4/6/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Slaves is a two piece punk band that brings it. Very entertaining duo. Lots of funny jokes and true classic sounding punk rock. Wolf Alice might be the best band on the planet. How they did not win a grammy is beyond me but those awards truly mean nothing. At least to me. In the alternative realm Wolf Alice could top them all and possibly in the regular rock genres. Their songs range from soft to rocking and everything inbetween. They played Swallowtail which i have not seen them play at all watching many youtube shows. It is a very mellow and beautiful song. but to be honest i want them to play storms and giant peach and fluffy and moaning lisa smile because they bring it. and then there are the equally good your loves whore and freazy. they are true entertainers. they really have great stage presence. they get the crowd going and involved. Just an amazing set. i knew it would be good but they were even better in person.
