About

Award-winning playwright and motion picture director David E. Talbert brings to you the most talked about stage play of the year - What My Husband Doesn't Know.

Lena Summer ( Michelle Williams) has it all - big house, loving family and a wealthy husband. But, with her husband's busy schedule the other side of  Lena's bed is too cold too often. When a handsome young plumber (Morris Chestnut) arrives at her door, the heat she's been longing for quickly rages into a wildfire.

    Advertisement is Misleading

The play was good however the advertising was misleading with Morris Chestnut a no show. All the advertising feature him.

    Just alright

by Cheney on 11/22/11Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

Enjoyable but not much of a plot. Singing was great (especially the mom) but the acoustics were bad....all music - couldn't hear the lyrics.

    OK

    by TME48 on 11/22/11Paramount Theatre-Oakland - Oakland

I guess I expected more from this play. I felt it was too short and the story line was ok. The best part was Falana (Tiffany Haddish), she made the play. Without her I would have given this a -Star. The singing was pleasant. My guest felt the same way I did about the play being ok, with higher expectations from this playwright, having seen his previous plays. I love Morris Chestnut, but I didn't think he was the highlight either and that is saying something because he is a gorgeous hunk of a chocolate man.

    WHAT MY HUSBAND DOESN'T KNOW

by KIETHIE on 11/22/11Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

THE PLAY WAS INCREDIBLY GOOD, THE SCRIPT WAS VERY WELL WRITTEN AND THE CAST WAS PHONAMINAL. MICHELLE WAS AN EXCELLENT LEADING LADY; MORRIS WAS VERY CONVINCING AND THE DRAMA/COMADY LEFT ME WANTING MORE. SADLY, THE SHOW I ATTENTED WAS THE LAST RUN. I FEEL VERY BLESSED TO WITNESS.

    Totally worth the money!

Great stage play with a well-known cast! I already recommended this play writer to my sister-in-law.

Enjoyable screen play. Great cast......easy on the eyes. Music was too loud.....it made it difficult to hear the words in the songs being sung. Although the "mother," had a very strong voice. Stage set was perfect.

    Very Well Done

by Andrea760 on 11/22/11Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

This play was extremely well written and acted. A stellar cast made this definitely worth the price of admission. Ann Nesby has an amazing voice and it was a pleasure to see/hear her perform. The message/morale was well delivered without being preachy. The musical numbers were perfectly placed without being overdone. There was just enough comic relief without crossing the line to ridiculous. And the set was amazing. Well done Mr. Talbert, well done. So glad I had the pleasure of attending.

The play was awesome. My friends and I are fans of Morris Chestnut. All of the cast was wonderful. Tiffani (Fallona) was the bomb. She is very funny and I am sure she will go a long way. Ms. Nesby and Clifton Davis were exceptional as usual in their roles. The plot was great. I look forward to the next project Mr. Talbert comes out with.

    What My Husband Doesn't know

by NiecesPieces on 11/22/11Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

Great fun, wonderful message. Michelle Williams' voice wasn't grand enough for this play, however. But wonderfuil characters who really brought the story to life! Comedianne TIFFANY HADDISH is a certified nut case! That woman stole every scene, she needs her own show!

    "What My Husband Doesn't Know"

by Isldgrl2008 on 11/22/11Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

Fantastic Cast! Excellent play, definitely worth the ticket price. The cast was kind enough to stay after and sign the programs for us. I would definitely attend another play by David E. Talbert & company. One thing is be careful of the seating at the Spreckels theatre. The bottom seating (orchestra they call it) ends with the "U" Row and the rest of the seats are upstairs. I had a seat in the "U" section and it is the same level at Row "T" and not staggered like the rest of the theatre, so it is hard to see over/past/around the heads of the people in front of you. But you can standup I guess but really some of the worst seats in the house.

    A great play

by LadyKinCali on 11/22/11Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

I decided this event would be nice to get my girlfriends out of the house. I haven't seen a play in quite some time and this one drew me in just from the title. I didn't want to know more so that I could be surprised. I truly enjoyed the show. I wish I would have won the opportunity to meet the cast, well Morris Chestnut, afterwards, but I didn't :( Besides that, I would highly recommend this play to everyone I know.

    Left something to be desired......

by Kickmaster on 11/22/11Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

The storyline didn't quite make sense. While the cheating wife thought that she had killed her lover, it took the admission of her father (minister) for her to find out that "Will-Kill-Son" had actually done it in "self defense." That leap of faith in understanding left a lot to be desired in the storyline. Otherwise, the play was entertaining.

Morris Chestnut continues to be a good looking man, but the play was choppy and hard to follow. It just didn't flow. We had good seats, but it was often hard to hear.

    Must See...

    by mocharose40 on 11/21/11Paramount Theatre-Oakland - Oakland

I always try to support my people when it comes to the arts. It is always great to see anything that David E. Talbert bring out to the audience. To make it and be in the business for 20 years and still going strong is a blessing within itself.

    Appreciative to the Arts

    by Lamyra on 11/21/11Paramount Theatre-Oakland - Oakland

I always admire a book, movie, or play that comes full circle! ~ WIth a twist, it did just that!! Id like to see the play done without prominent actors/entertainers ...to see if I can pick up on all the layers of this production. ~ who wouldnt get distracted that close to Chestnut!!! "Falana" aka Tiffany Haddish was a trip!!! I will follow (twitter) Haddish!! I didnt know Mr. Talbert before hand but I am definitely going to get to know the works,of what the Washington Post calls a "WUNDERKIND".
