    Pick of the Litter

by Chocolateboy on 2/17/11Madison Square Garden - New York

Westminster was great as always. The crowds were average in size but definitely dog people. Just wish the benching area was like it used to be. It was very hard to as the handlers questions as they were busy grooming the dogs and in some cases you couldn't even get to certain breeds due to the way they arranged the tables for grooming.

the worst Westminster I've ever gone to

by k9kutr on 2/17/11Madison Square Garden - New York

I have been to over 20 Westminster shows over the years. This year's show was by far the worst I've ever been to. With the Garden being under construction, the benching area was complete and utter chaos. In past years everything was set up neatly and you could find all of the different breeds. It was always jam packed and crowded with people but it was much more accommodating. Things were thrown everywhere this year and spectators could not get near any dog or their owner/handler. And the vendor area was a whole floor away from everything. It was absolutely ridiculous this year and if the Garden isn't finished by next year I will not be going.

    Westminster Experience

by Chispsita on 2/17/11Madison Square Garden - New York

I have attended the dog show in the past and was disappointed with how few vendors there were. Also the benching area was a disaster, very hard to speak to the handlers or breeders, noisy due to dryer. Prior years the benching area was separate giving the visitor better access to the breeds I wish that can be brought back. Overall I did like the show especially since the Scottish Deerhound won !!! Amazing in 135 years that breed did not win until now. Very exiting.

Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show was a mess

by Jofferoy on 2/17/11Madison Square Garden - New York

I've attended every Westminster Dog Show for 50 years and this was the worst. It had nothing to do with the Westminster Kennel Club. Madison Square Garden is going through a renovation everywhere but on the main floor. So, the vendors were not with the dogs, the bench area was a mess. There were no benches where the dogs are usually kept by breed. This time the crates that the dogs were transported in were on the floor in a disorganized manner and the handlers had to do the grooming right next to the crates. You couldn't get through, you couldn't see the separate breeds. Just a terrible mess. Not worth the price of admission. Hopefully the renovations will be done by the time the 2012 show comes around. A waste of time and money.

    doggone good

by tandem1 on 2/17/11Madison Square Garden - New York

Great as always....however, the benching was very much missed this year. Impossible to get to the owners and dogs to talk about breeds. I know this was temporary, but please bring it back. Coat check was wonderful and having the vendors on another floor a super idea.

    2011 Westminster Show in NYC

by Ronn on 2/17/11Madison Square Garden - New York

Probably one of the more exciting events I've ever been to. This show has been on my "bucket list" for 30 some years and I finally made it. Never in a million years did I think I'd ever get the opportunity to spend hours in the "Benching Area" just hanging with the owners, handlers and pooches. Hopefully next year they will have a "combo" ticket available for the both days. Very expensive ticket but what the heck. I had a blast for sure Sort of like the Super Bowl for Dogs

Fantastic. Will be better when Madison Square Garden has completed renovations.

Absolutely amazing! The show itself was wonderful & walking through the benching area was a real treat. Most owners & handlers welcomed the opportunity to talk to us about their dogs and to educate us about the breeds.

    What an amazing experience

by Kate471 on 2/17/11Madison Square Garden - New York

The show was a dog-lover's dream come true. You can see the dogs up close and personal in the benching area. We had General Admission tickets which worked well, sat in the upper section (300's) and you could see all the breeds being judged in 5 rings. Would have been fun to be closer for the groups and BIS, but great view overall.

A dog-on good time! If you have the time, go backstage and see the dogs getting ready.

    Westminster Kennel Club

by doglover789 on 2/17/11Madison Square Garden - New York

I had a great time at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. It was my first time seeing it live and I can't wait to go back next year. It was fun watching the dogs and handlers getting ready in the benching area. Very informative for people who want to meet the breeders and ask questions about the breed they are interested in getting. I recommend this show for all dog lovers. You will have a blast!

The Dog show was amazing in that, in addition to seeing the judging, one is allowed access to the grooming areas and you can interact with the owners and the handlers of the dogs "backstage".

    Good Value

by TonyTbone on 2/17/11Madison Square Garden - New York

Very enjoyable day. Cheapest ticket still allows access to everything. This is a must for a dog lover. Non-dog lover will still have a good time. Very well organized.

Westminster is a dog lover's event

by Lahzzie on 2/16/11Madison Square Garden - New York

I think the AKC and MSG could do SUCH a better job on this and sell lots more seats and advertising. Not that I have all the answers, but as it is, the show lacks the luster it deserves and the booths in the back seem dog UNfriendly and unfriednly for their owners and handlers too. Making the owners spend all day unecessarily in that hot cramped area, with their dogs crated, is inhumane. Particularly since MSG will not permit them to even have chairs!! They were all sitting on the floor, therefore, which made the whole thing seem very low end-ish. I would love to be on the team that plans for this event. With the billions of dollars USA dog lovers spend annually on our dogs, this event should be as impressive and celebrity attended and cool as the Oscars.

Not all artwork hangs on the wall

by Laylaleta on 2/16/11Madison Square Garden - New York

Beauty in motion, the dogs were positively beautiful, watching the handlers make their dogs move with grace, and grooming with complete patience and care to every detail. It was a moment I had lived to witness with my naked eye. I really loved going to the benching area and meeting the dogs and their handlers. I had the chance to cheer for my favorite dogs and meet new friends as I looked on during the live show on Monday. The toy and non-sporting group is one of my favorite. I am a dog groomer, from Washington, DC. I will try come back to WKC dog show again! I had a great experience.
