About

Weezer in Concert

Weezer, formed in Los Angeles in the early, alternative-era '90s, became a premier guitar-rock/pop band with the release of their self-titled debut in 1994. A number of fun, catchy songs from the album—"Undone (The Sweater Song)," "Say It Ain't So," "Buddy Holly"—became huge successes among alternative rock listeners, receiving substantial radio play and appearing as highly inventive and entertaining videos on MTV. In 1996, after releasing Pinkerton, an album which revealed an even more accomplished songwriting ability from the band, Weezer remained silent for a few years before reestablishing themselves as an important rock band in the new millennium with 2001's Weezer (Green Album). Other releases include 2002's Maladroit and Make Believe in 2005.

    Non-stop entertainment

by TreacheryofImages on 12/2/09Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

When the band came out playing a Van Halen riff, I knew it was going to be an entertaining evening, but I had no idea to what lengths frontman Rivers Cuomo would take in involving the crowd. During the first song, Cuomo threw out toliet paper so the audience could tp the interior of the Aragon Ballroom. Later, beach balls, large and small, were tossed out into the crowd during "Island in the Sun." The set list was more of a "Best of" than just a feature of their new album- "Undone (The Sweater Song)," "Buddy Holly," "Dope Nose," and "Say It Ain't So" were among the many older songs played. (It seemed that more from the Blue Album was played than from Raditude.) Cuomo had an unbelievable energy throughout the night- eventually it caught on with all of the crowd.

    Weezer rocked!

    by JTNV122 on 12/2/09Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Weezer put on such an amazing show... Rivers ran around the stage doing funny, entertaining things the whole show. They played an amazing mix of new to old songs. They played all of their hits. I didn't think that would be possible, but they did. Rivers threw toilet paper and beach balls at the audience. He climbed on the set and jumped on a trampoline on the stage. Ugh, it made me want to go to every Weezer show on the whole tour.

    Poker Face

    by JC1982 on 12/2/09Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Rivers with a long blonde wig is hilarious! The show rocked, especially being at the Aragon. They played a bunch of oldies, but goodies, and some good tunes from the new record. Great show!

    Hip Hip for Weezer

by jjod on 12/2/09Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Last nights show was great! Weezer put on a great show with tons of energy and great music. Rivers was all over the Aragon and even made an appearance as "Lady Gaga!" Heck of a night. Jacks Mannequin also put on a great show.....worth seeing them as a headline act in the future!

Really great show, high energy. A lot of crowd involvement. Good sound, and Weezer pulled out a few surprises.

    Weezer at their best!

by captainsmithers on 12/2/09Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Show was rock-solid; everyone brought their A game. Motion City started with a quick, short set. Sound a bit off. Jack's Mannequin was next with a rockin' hard set and crystal piano chords. But Weezer brought it like they always do. A dressed-down show compared to others, but the set list was mostly early stuff, including a lot off the Blue Album, some Pinkerton and Maladroit sprinkled in. The sound was pitch perfect and a great cover of Pink Floyd's "Breathe" and a mix with some Lady GaGa "PokerFace" thrown in for laughs. Alll in all a good hour and a half set from Weezer and the whole show was smoothe and fast-paced.

if you like weezer, you'd like their show

    by sme327 on 12/1/09aragon ballroom - chicago

weezer is one of those bands that just seems to keep on living, no matter how many times rivers cuomo tries to kill them. tonite's show seemed to personify that notion: no matter what rivers did on stage--whether it was throwing toilet paper into the crowd, donning a blonde lady gaga wig or spastically jumping around while singing--he could do no wrong before the sold out crowd at the aragon. the band sounded good and their show was solid--it contained plenty of hits (buddy holly, undone, island in the sun, beverly hills, etc) and plenty of songs hardcore fans were craving (surf wax america, tired of sex, etc), along with pink floyd, mgmt and lady gaga covers. rivers seemed to be in a state of bliss on stage--erratically running and jumping around for the full hundred minutes they were out there... both opening acts were great and definitely worth checking out again. weezer was good, but not great. as a fan of fifteen years, i'd go check them out again for a reasonable price, but there was nothing worth dropping another $50 on!

    Weezer rocked

by kaboom23 on 11/1/09Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

Missed the opening acts, but got there in time for Weezer. They played an awesome set, except for when one of those chicks from Gossip Girls came and sang part of "If Your Wondering if I Want You To (I Want You To)". She kinda sucked and therefore ruined the song. Otherwise an awesome show!!

    Best Halloween Ever!!!!

by rlgilgrls711 on 11/1/09Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

I have been to many concerts, but this was by far one of the top three. Matt and Kim were amazing and did a great job as openers. I absolutely loved their costumes, Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick. Weezer came out dressed as insects. They opened with Hash Pipe and followed it up with Undone, brining audiences members on stage to undress the band members. Rivers Cuomo brought Leighton Meester out to sing a duet. They did an amazing cover of MGMT's Kids and Lady GaGa's Poker Face. Absolutely the best Halloween ever!!!

    Weezer rocks the house

by totalozmatic on 11/1/09Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

Despite Weezer being one of the laziest rock bands in all of music, playing the same set consisting of mostly singles and bar covers, this show was very fun. Great venue to see a show.

Halloween and Weezer what more can you expect...

by Linki on 11/1/09Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

Although not the greatest show ever. It was the FUNNEST show ever. Balloons, lights, electronic ska by Matt and Kim and of course an amazing set by Weezer! It was an amazing way to spend Halloween! People were dressed up all in good fun! I kept on waiting for Matt Pinfield to say "this is 120 minutes..." but he never did haha.
