About

We the Kings are a melodic emo-pop band from Bradenton, Florida, a small Southern town that doubles as the home base for Tropicana orange juice. Friends since childhood (the band's moniker even refers to the name of their junior-high mascot), the four bandmates -- singer/guitarist Travis Clark, guitarist Hunter Thomsen, his bassist brother Drew Thomsen, and drummer Danny Duncan -- formed the group while attending high school. Under the guidance of manager Bret Disend, they placed a number of tracks on the social networking site Purevolume in 2007 to build online buzz. Meanwhile, they also pursued a deal with EMI's imprint S-Curve Records, which eventually signed the group.

We the Kings' self-titled debut album was produced by Sam Hollander and mixed by Lou Giordano, both of whom had done work with some of emo-pop's most marketable acts, and released in October 2007. "Check Yes Juliet" cracked the Pop 100 that fall, and the group spent much of the following two years on the road, playing shows alongside simpatico bands like The Academy Is... and Hey Monday. They also found time to record a second album, Smile Kid, which arrived in late 2009. Like the band's debut, Smile Kid spawned a Top 100 single with "We'll Be a Dream," which featured guest vocals from Demi Lovato. We the Kings continued to tour heavily, supporting All Time Low for several months before headlining their own shows at home and abroad. The shows stretched into 2011, by which point the group had already begun work on a third album. Sunshine State of Mind was released that summer. ~ Stewart Mason, Rovi

    Amazing show!

by beckylovestravis on 2/12/10House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

This was definitely one of the better shows I have been too, it was awesome! I didn't know Call the Cops was going to be there, but they definitely made a good impression. There for Tomorrow was great and Maika has a great voice live and performed well. A Rocket to the Moon was INCREDIBLE and was, in my opinion, one of the better bands there. Mayday Parade got the crowd off their feet and had us all jumping around the entire time. And as far as We the Kings...epic. Travis and Hunter are amazing at keeping the crowd connected and entertaining us. His voice was amazing and it just made me wish the show wouldn't end!

We The Kings are True Royalty

by HeyChristine on 2/12/10House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Do you need a decent way to start your weekend? What better way to do it than to attend the Take Action Tour in Orlando, FL. Three of the five bands that played were all from Florida. There For Tomorrow from Orlando, Mayday Parade from Tallahasse, and headliners We The Kings from Bradenton. It was more like a high-school reunion than a concert. Each band belted out both new and old songs, and the crowd never missed a beat. Arizona natives A Rocket To The Moon, who favor playing in Florida, had the crowd singing and swaying all night.

    Best Tour Show of 2010!!

by jimattack on 2/12/10House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

The show was nothing short of AMAZING. Only problems were getting our feet crushed by inconsiderate people who didn't know how to respect space, even in the worst of conditions. Overall, the bands we're all amazingly talented, but We The Kings totally stole the show from them. They we're unbelievably awesome. They connected with the crowd in ways that no others did. They we're truly the heart of the entire show.

    We The Kings is AMAZING!!

    by Kimy2009 on 2/4/10Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

This was my first event at the RAVE, and also my first We The Kings concert. I was ABSOLUTELY stunned. They were fun loving and they interacted with the fans. Some concerts I go to just play their music and go... but We The Kings made things fun, and it reinforced the fact that I adore We The Kings. I can't wait for them to come back, and I would totally recommend this event to anyone and everyone. In fact, I still do. :D

We The Kings Rocked The Stage!

by Brittanyonastick on 2/4/10Station 4 - Saint Paul

We The Kings was unforgettable on the Take Action Tour. Travis is Hot with his red hair rocking away. I can't wait for them to come to MN again but this time with Warped Tour. A Rocket to the Moon, Mayday Parade, There for Tomorrow, and Call The Cops did an amazing job as well.

    It was good

    by Katelyn on 2/3/10Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

We early and luckily they had the line inside the rave so we didn't have to wait outside. The actual concert was great, the bands all did amazing. The one thing I wasn't a fan of wa the smoke...people in the moshpit/crowd would smoke in between sets and if you've ever been in such a tightly packed group of people you know how hard it is to breath any way that so the smoking thing kind of sucked. The security were nice, they let the guys in the bands come out after as long as we moved when cars wanted to leave the parking lot. Overall it was a fun night.

    Amazing!!

    by Nicole0018 on 2/2/10Station 4 - Saint Paul

One of my favorite shows that I have attended! Mayday Parade was my highlight! I like going to concerts in small venues because you can actually see decent. We were able to be in the 21 plus area by the bar so we had all the room in the world to move around! Plus the bands used the bar area to store all of their equipment and hang out so i got to get pictures with alot of the band members! I cant wait until they come back again!!

    always a good show

    by wethekingsfann on 2/1/10Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

i had seen we the kings around this time last year, and i liked the show then. now that they came out with another cd it was only all that much better of a concert. the only reason i downgraded it slightly to a four out of five star rating was because i thought mayday parade would've been a little better. although they did get rid of one of their two singers so i guess that was to be expected. overall pretty good.

As a mom taking my teenage daughter to the concert, I have to admit that I was VERY impressed by all of the musicians who performed. The talent was amazing!! Mayday Parade was much better at this performance compared to their performance at the Majestic in Madison last summer. I have definitely become a We the Kings fan, and I'd certainly see them again if my daughter would allow me to join her!! She had a FABULOUS time as well.... in love with the music even more than ever!!!

This show was amazing! I had so much fun .. SO glad I went. We the Kings and A Rocket to the Moon are my absolute favorite bands .. so seeing them together on the same night basically made my life. Mayday Parade was awesome too. I didn't know anything by Call the Cops or There for Tomorrow, but I actually liked what I heard last night! I'll probably look into them on itunes eventually. Bottom line is that it was a great show, lost of fun, but too bad it was so cold so not many bands stayed to hang out after the show.

I love Mayday and WTK :)

by KATELOVESBLINK on 1/30/10Station 4 - Saint Paul

This show was so much fun! It was my third time at Station 4, and think it's a great venue. All the bands rocked! The crowd gets really into it, which I love, and everyone is just there to hear some awesome music and have a good time!

We the Kings and Mayday Parade played with energy and actually played their songs well. A Rocket to the Moon was not bad either and the singer from There's for Tomorrow was amazing under the circumstances. Therefore, the music was awesome, but the crowd was demoninated by tweens and high schoolers. Although it was expected, it was still frustrating having to deal with since I am a college student.

    Amazing Sound!

    by Chickengirl8 on 1/30/10Station 4 - Saint Paul

Unfortunately I only got to see the first 3 bands because I am sick, so I missed We The Kings. I'd have to say though, the other bands were spectacular! The one man show for There For Tomorrow sounded beautiful acoustic, he should think of doing that more. Mayday Parade, the main attraction for me, was no disappointment. The music sounded great and there was great energy. Wonderful concert. I hope they all come back again soon!!!
