About

We Are Scientists is an American rock band started in California in
2000 whove carried out their last 20 years of art business from a
base in New York City. Founding members Keith Murray (guitar) and
Chris Cain (bass) have played with guys like Adam, Michael, Andy,
Danny, Chris, Matt, and Gary on drums, but for over five years now
have had Keith Carne, who looks like he isnt going anywhere.
Their first album, With Love & Squalor, was certified gold in the
U.K. and enjoyed by dance rock fans in many other countries.
Subsequent records like Brain Thrust Mastery, TV en Franais,
and Megaplex saw the incorporation of more synthesizers, strings,
and a horn. Although 2021s Huffy returned to a guitar-driven
sound, forthcoming Lobes, the bands eighth studio album, is their
synthiest, electronic beatiest collection yet. So, really, who even is
We Are Scientists?
The release of Lobes on January 20, 2023 was celebrated with a
very special hometown show at Brooklyn Made, followed by touring
in the U.K. and Europe. The band is currently on a run of European
shows and festivals this summer. Further US dates follow in the fall.

Awesome new years show! No better way to bring in the new year than with A brain thrust mastery.

A friend of mine made the comment- 'these guys are indie rock done right', and I totally agreed with him. They were full of energy (not to mention hilarious), and the venue was perfect for the show.

Can't Wait to See We Are Scientists Again!

by MichelleRPh on 8/15/10The Basement - Columbus

I loved hearing them at such a small venue. They were amazing and the crowd was really into it. Plus they came to the merch booth afterwards for autographs and pictures.

We are Scientists were absolutely brilliant!

by USFooty on 8/13/10The Record Bar - Kansas City

We are Scientists are an Indie band that is still an undiscovered gem in the US which is unfortunate since in Europe they are on a par with the likes of Hard Fi, Arctic Monkeys, Pigeon Detectives, Franz Ferdinand and the like. They have three incredible albums which makes for an incredible live show, especially in a small club, like in KC where they gave the audience a show to remember. They performed their entire repetoire thrilling an eager audience

If you need to dance your "behind" off, this is where you need to go! Very cool guitar riffs and lots of fun! The 2 opening artists were great, too! It was my first time at the Music Hall of Williamsburg and I really liked this new venue! Enjoy!

    We Are Scientists never disappoint!

by Dnastii on 7/18/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Not only do they sound identical to their albums but they always know how to put on a show. They not only cease to amazing playing their musical but they even throw on a little comedy act in between there songs. Not to mention that they are hilarious! While performing they always know how to get their crowd involved and they brought the whole show together. It was phenomenal. Not only did the audience enjoy them but they truly enjoy and loved every second of it as well. One complaint if any would be that vocals become hard to hear but i believe that it was definitely due to technical issues.

    Awesome but a bit short

by Livelivelive on 7/18/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

I admit I could not even name (let alone hum) any song by We are Scientists, but I had a funny feeling this might be good, and so I bought my ticket and trekked out to Williamsburg for the abnormally late show with low expectations, high enthusiasm, and my friend Jeanette, whom I'd seen Inception with earlier that day. When we arrived there was a line of about thirty young girls and effeminate boys in tight jeans waiting for the doors to open. I should mention that the Music Hall of Williamsburg, located in the heart of Hipsterland, on the L train, is a lovely space about the size of the old Theaterfabrik, but with a balcony. Once doors opened we moved quickly, and managed to get a spot right upfront by the waist-height stage (no barrier, yay!), and chatted away through the openers (a decent but poorly-rehearsed all-girl rock band called Bad Girlfriend and a bizarre British hipster with a guitar) until the headliners finally took the stage at midnight. The singer turned out to be a ridiculously attractive man with blue eyes, skinny jeans and a Def Lepard t-shirt, and his partner an equally well-groomed (though fuzzier) bassist who was quieter but just as funny. Though visually embodiments of ironic Hipsterdom, We are Scientists turned out to be musically quite sophisticated, and I LOVED the goofy banter in between songs. The crowd was a bit lackluster at first but quickly warmed to what seemed to be a string of hit songs, and I spent pretty much the entire show hopping and banging away, and after about an hour pretty much the entire crowd was jumping up and down in unison. At the end I was tired (1am, after all), but a bit sad that the show lasted only a bit over an hour, though I didn't get home until 3 am, so I guess it was okay that it ended when it did. Both Jeanette and I had a lovely time, and I cannot wait to get their entire catalog of music.

The tickets said the show started at 8:00. We Are Scientists didn't go on until after 11:00. It wasn't worth the wait.
