WAR IN CONCERT:
Chicano funk icons War rolled their way to fame in the early '70s with classic hits like "Low Rider" and "Why Can't We Be Friends?", and they've kept fans dancing ever since with their groovy, socially conscious jams. The group's roster has changed over the years, but founding member Leroy "Lonnie" Jordan has remained a constant, and his familiar voice and jazzy keyboard licks continue to drive the band's fun-loving sets. The multi-ethnic lineup he's assembled stays true to the band's message of harmony and brotherhood, and their 2014 studio debut together – the first new War album in 20 years – proved they've got the musical chemistry to carry on the band's hallowed legacy. In concert they strike up the same funky, feel-good vibe that fueled War's rise to success in the '70s, and their party-starting blend of rubbery basslines, Latin percussion, and scorching saxophone always gets ticket buyers moving their feet.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
War formed in 1969 when famed producer Jerry Goldstein brought together former Animals singer Eric Burdon and a group of Long Beach, CA funk players he discovered at a North Hollywood club. The group started performing throughout Southern California as Eric Burdon and War, and in 1970 they released their debut album Eric Burdon Declares "War." Their first single "Spill the Wine" was a Top 3 hit on Billboard's Hot 100, making them stars overnight and leading to extensive touring. War was quickly hailed as one of the best live bands in the business, but Burdon left the group to pursue other projects a year later. Despite the sudden departure of their frontman, the best was yet to come for War – they dominated the R&B charts in the '70s with a string of No. 1 albums including The World is a Ghetto (1972), Deliver the Word (1973), and Why Can't We Be Friends (1975). The band remained a funk force to be reckoned with throughout the '80s and '90s, and in 2008 Burdon reunited with the group for the first time in 37 years for a one-off show at London's Royal Albert Hall. Since then founding member Lonnie Jordan has kept the music alive with a talented new lineup that made their studio debut on 2014's Evolutionary and continues to burn it up on tour.

Awesome venue, not big so every seat is great. War played all of their hits.
My wife and I had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed the group they sound just like they did years ago when I first saw them, and the crowd was excellent. They performed all their songs that were hits. I would gladly pay to see them again. We are all getting old, but the support was wonderful a sold out show
My husband and I really enjoyed the show. We seen them multiple times and we always have a great time.
Extravagant performance! The interactions with the crowd were made very personal as if each ticket holder was an old friend from the past. Thank you for returning me to the summer days to hang out in the park. Also, my daughter met with the members afterward, this was beyond what I thought a famous band would spend a moment of their time to greet my daughter who grew up listening to their music. To all who are fans, I recommend spending the money on the best tickets available
Unable to see the band playing because there's was people in front of us standing up.
They were awesome . Sounded incredible and very entertaining. One of my favorite concerts.
Having attended several shows at Paristown Hall, I thought I knew what to expect, a smaller venue, with an intimate show setting with an open view of the stage easily seen from the GA standing floor, with refreshments on both sides of the stage. My ticket section stated - FLOOR, and my ticket entry info said - GA STANDING. When we arrived, we were disappointed to see a sea of hundreds of chairs placed across the entire width of the stage, starting directly in front of the stage, and filling the floor all the way back nearly to the merch table. Only one side of the stage was serving refreshments and it shut down 75 minutes after the show started. The show lasted a mere 95 minutes, and, regrettably, the band NEVER seemed to catch a groove, likely due to the fact that they were playing to a nearly entirely seated audience. I will acknowledge many of the people occupying those seats appeared in great need of them since they did not stand, generally, at all. However, for attendees who did not want or need to sit, and for those that had FLOOR GA STANDING tickets that suggested they would indeed be standing, it was disappointing at best to be standing at the back of the room.
Reminisced on their many hits which were played at a "Sounds like the record "level. All Day, Galaxy, Why Can't We Be Friends, The Low Rider and Cisco Kids were belted out with great harmony and musical instrument excellence by War inthe concert. Well worth the price of admission . Rekindled many memories of my youth. Well done War. WELLDONE!

This show was so Amazing. Lonnie moving around as if he was still in his 20s. I was expecting a decent show but this blew my mind!
Badass show! Loved it took me back! A must see for those that grew up listening to WAR.
I’ve listened to WAR since they began and never been to their concert before. They delivered and so glad I had this experience. Wish it had been a little longer, but every minute had a ton of energy. Happy Birthday, Lonnie!
They played all their big hits. Great musicians, great rapport with the audience, I would definitely go again.
My first time seeing WAR and I enjoyed every minute of the concert! There was a good amount of folks at the venue. The lead vocal of course is Leroy (Lonnie) Jordan and he really is amazing! He so engaging with the audience and is the very essence of the whole band. The music was magical and wish I could have seen them back in the glorious 70s!!
This was a great concert! Masterful musicians and entertainers! The energy was high and you could see the band was really enjoying themselves! Loved it!
WAR was a fun and fantastic concert. High on charisma and cannot say enough about their harmonica player. Who thought someone could do with a harmonica what he did? Of course our favorite songs, The Cisco Kid, Why Can't We Be Friends, Slipping Into Darkness and of course Low Rider. Just a great concert (and really LOUD). If you have theopportunity to see them, GO.
War is good for a fun time. Take handful of old songs and make them last shy of 2 hours.!skilled performers who appear to have fun doing what they do. Great sound mix in a intimate venue , recommend!
These guys haven't slowed down at all! They still sound great and have lots of gas left in the tank. Lonnie can ramble a bit, but that's his Thang. I love love love that lowrider jump bounce!
We purchased the VIP tickets. Wow! More than met our expectations. Great seats, fantastic merchandise and an absolutely fabulous concert. Wish concert would have been a bit longer, but what we saw and experienced was fantastic. Will definitely see War again 🥰
