King and I was extremely well done.

I thoroughly enjoyed the production of the King and I. The cast was amazing. I have seen this play before on Broadway with the original cast and I must say Walnut Street has made it just as enjoyable. A must see!

    Lovely performance

by GrewUpInBucksCo on 12/4/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

I attended this performance with my 25-year-old niece because "The King and I" is one of my favorite musicals and I felt she would enjoy it. We were not disappointed. The performers in the lead roles were extremely engaging. The young woman who played Tuptim had a remarkably beautiful voice and sang with great passion and sensitivity. The performers in the "Uncle Tom's Cabin" dance were outstanding, especially the female lead and the "hunting dogs." Not all of the supporting players in the overall production seemed to be of the same caliber as the leads, but all were very competent and interpreted their parts admirably. The children did a fine job and seemed quite at home on the stage. It appeared as if the whole cast was really enjoying the play. The costumes and sets were beautiful. The orchestra is to be commended as well.

    The King and I

by McWilliams on 11/28/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

This was a very good play. The actors did a great job. Everything was on point from the singing, volume, lighting, costumes etc. The play was humorous enough to keep me smiling. It was also just perfect on duration, not too short, not too long.

    Not to be missed production!

by twgm on 11/17/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

Amazing production of K and I. Even though I have seen it many times and knew most of the words it felt fresh and alive. The voices were beautiful, the set enchanting and the dancing extraordinary. I loved how the costumes blended with each other, especially when Anna was wearing the gold gown and the king was wearing the gold and dark red outfit. I knew what the ending would be and I still cried. The actor who played the king was wonderful at conveying the rage of emotions in his character. And the children were adorable

    Fabulous!

by cruisejoy on 11/14/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

Having tried out for a part in "The King and I" in high school, this play always evokes pleasant memories for me. The Walnut Street Theatre's version did a great job in reminding me how much I love the score and the storyline. The actors and actresses were great, and their singing voices were beautiful. The scenery was so well done as were the costumes. I especially liked "I Whistle a Happy Tune" and "Shall We Dance" scenes.

by hermania on 11/13/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

My 11 yr. old followed the King's comedy like a hawk; laughed through the whole show. My almost 14 yr. old daughter was amazed by the powerful talent of Anna. It was a last minute decision to come and we're so glad we did. We hope to come to more shows in the future. Thanks !

    Wonderful production--highly recommended!!!

by VANLOVE on 11/13/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

I definitely recommend this musical "The King and I" at the Walnut Street Theatre! To begin with, the music was absolutely wonderful--the orchestra and performers were outstanding. The songs were so beautiful and the performers had outstanding voices and really brought the music to life. Additionally, the props and costumes were stunning. Absolutely beautiful colors, materials and scenery! Really a visual delight to see it all unfold. Finally, the actors and actresses were superb! I cannot say enough for the entire cast. This was a great experience and even my husband (who was reluctant to go) was really impressed by the entire show and the voices of the performers and could not say enough about it afterwards! If you love great musical performances, this show is not to be missed!

    King and I is great!

by kritter01 on 11/12/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

We've never been to an opening - what a great show to see. The voices were great, the costumes eye-catching...and I have to admit, my favorite parts were ones the 'kids' were in.
