Wage War in Concert
Wage War are the kind of hard rock band that isn't easily categorized. That starts with their influences: Although the band's chugging riffs and jackhammering drums take cues from modern music's heaviest names (including Slipknot, August Burns Red, and As I Lay Dying), the group are also known for pairing contrasting inspirations. Their brutal grooves often fuse hip-hop and metal in the way Korn is known for doing, and frontman Briton Bond's gruff, gravelly voice alternates with the more pristine melodic approach of guitarist/vocalist Cody Quistad.
Bond, Quistad, and guitarist/vocalist Seth Blake originally formed Wage War in Ocala, Florida, in 2010 under the moniker Empires. The trio, which was then working with a different rhythm section, even released an EP in 2011, The Fall of Kings.
After some lineup shuffling, the band changed their name in 2013 and, two years later, signed a deal with Fearless Records. Wage War's 2015 full-length debut for the label, Blueprints, and the 2017 album Deadweight were both co-produced by Andrew Wade and A Day to Remember's Jeremy McKinnon.
Deadweight especially illustrates their progression as a band, as it boasts more confident, emotional songwriting and variety in dynamics. In fact, Wage War continue that soul-searching on the 2019 single "Low" — a bruising song about feeling worn down by life — and via the 2018 singles "Johnny Cash (Stripped)" and "Gravity (Stripped)." The latter two are pared-down versions of songs that originally appeared on Deadweight, and they boast chiming guitars, restrained percussion, and delicate vocals.
Live, Wage War stir up ferocious mosh pits courtesy of Bond's commanding stage presence — he directs his low growls directly at the crowd to emphasize vocal power — and aggressive, thrashing playing.
Given this energy, the band are unsurprisingly road warriors who have done several stints on the Vans Warped Tour and opened for Of Mice & Men, August Burns Red, and A Day to Remember. Wage War are now ranked among the genre's biggest heavyweights, with spots in the lineup of the Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival and Welcome to Rockville 2019.

Wage War KILLED IT! They put on such an amazing show, with a long setlist and saved the best for last!! Can’t wait to see them again one day!
I found them on Spotify went to a concert and my god I have been obsessed with wage war music ever sense and they put on such an absolutely amazing show!
this band is absolutely phenomenal. i have saw this band live 6 times in 2022 alone and have traveled out or across the state multiple times to see them. they don’t disappoint. they are 100% worth your time and drive to see live. Cody’s voice alone is enough to give you goosebumps. dont miss out when they come to city near you!
One of the best bands to get a crowd going. These guys never disappoint a mosh pit. They are everything to set you up for the greatest and adrenaline filled night of your life.
I knew about them but had never really listen before I saw them at a Three days Grace show a few weeks ago. Was hyped to be surprised by how heavy they actually are. Would definitely see them again.
Great band. Super catchy hooks. Formula lyrics. Would definitely see them again!
I am obsessed with Wage War and was so excited to get tickets to see them live. They did NOT disappoint at all! They put so much energy into their performance and everyone had an amazing night! I left with sweat all over me, not sure if it was all mine or other people's. Drink on my shoes. Accidentally almost wound up as part of the wall of death. Almost caught a few elbows and feet to the face, too. And I wouldn't have had it any other way! Wage War is a band I'd pay a million times over to see again.
This was my first time seeing Wage War as a headliner. Thwy quickly became one of my fav bands during quarantine. Their music has helped me thru alot. Their performance WAS AMAAAZINGGG. 10/10, RECOMMEND!
Wage war is quickly moving up the list of favorite acts to see live. They are well on their way to being THE headline act to go see. 10/10 highly recommend
I went to the show with a cane for my spine injury and it was just as brutal as any other show but I was spill protected from getting hurt worse and still got into the pit with a little help from new friends! The venue was easy to find and get into, it was very safe and had awesome stage mechanics and I didn’t feel crushed. I’m excited for the next one! Oh and I heard ALL my favorite songs from every single band! So awesome
The best VIP experience for any band I’ve ever had. Loved how the band got to interact with the fans and put on a pre show before things got crazy. Meeting them was the biggest highlight of the night, and all 5 members were very nice. A certain crazy fan was hampering the experience a bit trying to jump on people and trying to shove me outta my way while I was trying to enjoy my front row experience but overall it was an excellent time
This show from top to bottom was absolutely amazing. From the bands, to the crowd, and the overall atmosphere was just over the top and overwhelming. Other than Wage War’s set being a highlight, I will always remember Lawrence jumping from the balcony
Amazing concert, all the bands performing that night gave it their all, also enjoyed the crowd surfing. One of the best concerts in my book!
This venue is on top of the game and highly suggested. The employees are awesome, security is awesome, drink prices are a bit pricey but not overly so like some places. All and all, this is the best venue in Louisville in my opinion with a close second being right next door.
Wage War delivers a show and a presence like no other, but when accompanied by bands like Gideon and While She Sleeps, you’d best buckle up and brace yourself for an experience that you won’t stop talking about once your ears stop ringing!
Great energy, great sound, my body hurts from the amount of body and head banging. Keep it up homies.
Literally so amazing. Even in a cramped and awkward space they killed it. And they introduced me to some bands i didnt know about which is always exciting. I hope to see them live again!
I had a great time, first time to Aoura, definitely going to return. Plenty of bar room, fast and promt with drinks. Got to meet the band members, before and after they were all really nice people. The overall experience was definitely an awesome time. Rock out... 😎
Other than getting covid from the show, the music was awesome, the moshing was great, and I saw tons of familiar faces.
