    Virginia Symphony Rocked the House

by MorrisB on 9/28/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - Portsmouth

I gave my 17 year old son tickets for his 18th birthday. We had a great time. My son is musically inclined, (I can't carry a tune in a bucket) we are both classic rock fans, neither one of us has had much exposure to Classical Music. From the opening number to the closing we were enthralled. The music was captivating and original. The show was very entertaining and exciting. We both have a greater appreciation for the symphony, thank you.

VSO & Led Zepplin know how to rock!

by Kimms32 on 9/28/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - Portsmouth

I am a regular ticket holder for the VSO and to see and hear them play Led Zepplin was absolutely fabulous - got to see a different side to the VSO! I would recommend that anyone who enjoys the music of Led Zepplin to see this show - you won't regret it! In fact, the next time it comes in to town, I'm rounding up all of my friends and we'll see it again!!

THE MUSIC OF LED ZEPPLIN W/ VA SYMPHONY

by Crazy4music673 on 9/28/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - Portsmouth

I really enjoyed the Music of Led Zepplin with the Virginia Symphony. The lead singer from Zebra sounds very similar to Robert Plant. The Virginia Symphony is astonishing and it is awesome to see them enjoy playing the music. I have seen this concert before when they played at the Chrysler Hall. I believe I would have enjoyed it better if it was at Chrysler Hall or an enclosed venue due to the acoustics but I still appreciated the awesome music that was played by one of my favorites, The Virginia Symphony.

    inspirational

by scootypuffjr on 9/27/09St Bede - Williamsburg

It was a very powerful performance that took you towards a dark mysterious place and then to a new magical fantasy world. I learned to appreciate the music and how talented the performers were it literally took my breath away how the music played back and forth and what to expect.

I enjoyed it even more than I thought I would! Led Zeppelin had so many hits!!! The symphony did a great job with all of the songs, the lead guitarist was awesome, and Randy Jackson sounded very much like Robert Plant! In no way, were we disappointed! I'm very glad we went and highly recommend it!

    Led Zeppelin was Awesome

by ugotanotherthingcoming on 9/26/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - Portsmouth

The singer did a great job with interacting with the crowd and had a great chemistry with the performers in the orchestra. The electric violinest was superb. The performers seemed like they had a great time. But in all honesty, i dont think the conductor does any real work other than just jam out to himself ( opinion) i would hope the drummer and band already know the music and dont need someone to show the peaks and vallies of the song they shouldve at least rehearsed a few times...again thats just my humble opinion the show was spectactular!! Great work

    Led Zeppelin

by Preview on 9/26/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - Portsmouth

Great performances by both the Symphony and the Rock Band. The Rock Band Drummer was amazing....... The weather even played it's part with the wind blowing the singers hair off his face at the appropriate times during 'The Immigrant Song"..... Those who "shouda and coulda" but didn't, missed out on a really fun show.

    Zeppelin / Va Symphony- Excellent

by Davi56 on 9/26/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - Portsmouth

The show was awesome ! We had front row seats and had a perfect view. Nevertheless it wouldn't have mattered where you sat because the show was great. Kudos to Randy Jackson's voice and friendly nature. The Va Symphony is top notch ! My girlfriend and I were most impressed with the entire show.

    Beethoven's Eighth Plus

by NurseJaneFuzzyWuzzy on 9/26/09St Bede - Williamsburg

Delightful program, beautifully played and conducted with spirit and expertise. Especially enjoyed the oboeist. Sorry the audience count was down, maybe due to predictions of bad weather; funny how the thunder rolled at the right time to add to the music!

All of the music was breath taking in its beauty and execution but the Beethoven fed my soul . Benedetto Lupo was phenominal.

    Outsanding Symphony

    by y2kbj on 7/11/09St Bede - Williamsburg

The production was outstanding. JoAnn Falletta is incredible as a conductor. I didn't care for the location. It is extremely difficult to have a good seat at St. Bede's because the pulpit is right in the middle of the church with the orchestra behind it. If sound were the only thing under consideration it would be an unbeatable performance. Would like to be able to see the conductor and all of the orchestra but you have to choose one or the other since something will always be blocked.
