About

Swingtime Salute, An On-Deck Revue recreates a WWII-era variety show on the deck of the Battleship Wisconsin, Thursday through Sunday evenings at 8:00 pm.  Dashing sailors and dishy dames, accompanied by a live, on-stage band, expertly belt out the era's popular tunes from the Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Glenn Miller, Jimmy Dorsey and more.  This retro celebration of the Swing Era is one for the boys, the gals, and the whole family! Recommended for ages 4 and up. Produced by Nauticus and Virginia Stage Company.

Romeo & Juliet a little over the edge

by chwallace on 11/6/09Wells Theatre - Norfolk

I'm pretty open minded to new interpretations of classics, however, we could have done without the open groping of merry fellow crotches and closeup filming of Juliet's straddling of new hubby Romeo - Juliet should visit the idea of a tightlegged panty to avoid offending more conservative playgoers and to help parents who braved a tagalong preteen avoid an unwanted peekshow. The idea of the new age version was great with laptops and video cams, however, they should try again without the unnecessary "hands- on" interpretation of the script.

Interesting mix of old and new. The actors were really good. I had trouble following the language but because they were acting at the same time it was ok after I got the flow of things. It was interesting experence to say the least. This is a nice little theater. We went to the 4pm Saturday show.
