Vincent Segal and Ballaké Sissoko offered us an amazing hour and a half. The harmonies between cello and kora are perfect, and we can feel the friendship and the bond between the two musicians. It could have lasted for hours... !
These two are making music unlike any other. Segal plays the cello like a jazz bass, a rhythm guitar, a kora - evoking sounds and rhythms you've never heard before from a cello. Sissoko's fingers flow like torrents of water over the kora strings. Absolutely amazing and totally beautiful.
This was one of the most beautiful performances of any kind I have ever attended. I took my wife and found myself crying at different points of the performance, it was so beautiful. The cellist is a true master, so versatile that he surprises throughout the performance.
