Villanova Wildcats Women's Basketball History

The Villanova Wildcats women’s basketball team played their first season in 1969. In 1982, the team joined the Big East Conference, where they have won three conference tournament championships and three regular season titles. Starting in 1978, the Wildcats were coached by Harry Perretta for 42 seasons until former Villanova player and assistant coach Denise Dillon took over in 2020. The Wildcats have made 14 appearances in the NCAA Championship tournament, advancing to the Elite Eight in 2003 and the Sweet Sixteen in 2023. The Villanova women’s basketball team also placed as the runner-up in the inaugural Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament in 2024.

Villanova Wildcats at William B. Finneran Pavilion

The Villanova Wildcats play at the William B. Finneran Pavilion, which originally opened in 1986 but was completely renovated during the 2017-18 season. Finneran Pavilion currently seats 6,501 and boasts the rambunctious Nova Nation student section.
