About

VIC MENSA IN CONCERT:

Chicago-born rapper Vic Mensa combines the personal and the political on his genre-defying, bass-heavy tracks. Mensa is a Black Lives Matter activist and is known for encouraging fans to vote, but he's just as likely to rap about his struggles with drugs and mental health as he is tackle issues like racial tension and political progress. Whether he's railing against the system or turning his critical lens on himself, Mensa does it with a sense of style and swagger that always makes for an epic live show. In concert he cuts a commanding figure and spits incisive rhymes with serious self-possession while dancing around the stage to bombastic trap beats. From the explosively political "16 Shots" to the queer-friendly anthem "Free Love," Mensa has plenty to say, and he delivers his message with a galvanizing intensity every time he performs.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Vic Mensa, aka Victor Kwesi Mensah, was raised in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago by his Ghanaian father and American mother. He made a name for himself in the early '10s as a member of the hip hop-influenced indie band Kids These Days, and after the group broke up in 2013 he released his debut solo mixtape Innanetape to critical acclaim. Later that year he joined J. Cole and Wale on the What Dreams May Come Tour, and in 2014 he was selected as a member of XLL Magazine's coveted Freshman Class. Mensa's rise continued in 2015 with a featured verse on Kanye West's "Wolves," which the pair followed up with the hard-hitting "U Mad." Jay Z signed Mensa to his Roc Nation label in mid-2015, and in 2016 Mensa made his Roc debut with the EP There's Alot Going On. With his 2016 full-length debut Traffic generating huge buzz, Mensa has the world at his feet and fans around the world dying to see him on tour.

I was so excited for that day and when it came around I was not disappointed! The crowd was so live and the performers were so energetic. I was surprised that after Vic Mensa and towkio stay after to just sigh shirts and hang. it was amazing!
