Great play. Iwish we had had a play bill to tell us about the actors.
Hilarious! I am a Lutheran and can relate to all of their antics! I also was our church secretary for many years - I saw much of what goes in behind the scenes! This was so telling ... loved this play!
We have always enjoyed the CBL shows and have seen many of them — at Plymouth Playhouse and at Black Box and now at the larger auditorium. But we probably paid most and enjoyed least the 20th anniversary performance. That conclusion is based on hearing and seeing. Our small group felt that both the speaking and singing were harder to follow in the big auditorium. Admittedly, It also wasn’t helped by the sound of oxygen generators in our vicinity. But most significantly we all agreed was that the humor of facial expressions — such a major aspect of these performances — was almost completely missing from the perspective of our seats. Clearly a downward departure from our anticipations. Our previous performance (during the holidays, and from the front row) was vastly better. I do conclude that the slapstick nature of CBL is best enjoyed in an intimate theater venue.
I purchased tickets back in December and bought the best seats available. When I got to the event I realized that they must’ve saved all the main floor seats for bus groups and we got the leftovers. Could see a lot and often times hard to hear what was being said. Very disappointed in my investment.
This great show for laughter and a little musical but your mind will take you back to the 1950’s …. Hope younger generation can figure it out!
We are old enough to understand the humor and religious enough too. It wasnt too long, just right to be funny from beginning to end. It is a comedy. Enjoy!
We thought the play was entertaining and reminiscent of church days in the past. Not being from the area we missed some of the humor.
The Church Basement ladies, always give a great performance with a lesson to be learned. I have seen quite a few of their plays and have never been disappointed. LOTS of fun and Laughter.
I have seen this play many times and it never gets old! Scenes are so true and brings back lots of memories. Such good laughs and great entertainment.
What a fun, relaxing evening reflecting back on my own church experiences. The performers were amazing.
