Diner Rocks
Signature Theatre - Arlington
Went to see Diner at the Signature and it was wonderful. Story by Barry Levinson and music by Sheryl Crow portrayed last days of 1959 in Baltimore of 6 buddies with humor and depth. Music made you wanna dance in your seat and the story could have applied to many towns across the country where the guys needed a place to get away from their lives to talk, well about their lives. Would have gone again but the run ended ...

You should see the movie first!
Signature Theatre - Arlington
The show was an enjoyable evening - sets, staging, choreography memorable. Two of the vocal numbers have potential as being real winners. Unfortunately with two others, the orchestration drowned out the lyrics, so my guest and I could not make out the words. My guest and I both felt (we each had seen the movie numerous times) that anyone seeing the play without having seen the movie would miss many the subtle transitions that made the movie a classic.

Fun, fun, fun!
Signature Theatre - Arlington
The movie screenplay adapted seamlessly to the stage. It was meant to be a musical. Sheryl Crow's music and lyrics were spot on for the time period (1959) yet the music sounded relevant today. My husband loved this show too, and he's not a musical type of guy.

Creative performance and terrific stage set. As good as "Jersey Boys." It's ready for Broadway.

Great energy and fun from Diner
Signature Theatre - Arlington
Diner's cast delivered energy, enthusiasm and fun. We loved the staging, the theme of repressed feminism in 1959, and most of the songs. The show dragged a bit during the early-mid part of the second act.

Makes a Baltimore Native Proud
Signature Theatre - Arlington
This presentation of the life and times of the Diner Guys and their antics was excellent! I am biased being a Baltimore native and a major fan of Barry Levinson's work, but this musical worked on all levels. The cast was wonderful, the set design was true to the real diner and the era in which the action took place, and the music and the talent exhibited by the cast were outstanding. I cannot wait to see this piece again when it opens on Broadway.

Diner - excellent production
Signature Theatre - Arlington
Diner was absolutely great. I loved the production and the music was spectacular. In fact, I wondered why there was no CD of the music for sale. Acting was superb and so upbeat. Actors seemed to really enjoy their parts. Would recommend show to all.

So entertaining!
Signature Theatre - Arlington
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves watching this musical! The songs were great, the singing was spot on, and the set was so creative! The script included favorite lines and scenes from the movie, which my sister and I saw at the old Annandale theater way back when. Thanks for a great evening! As a side note, we did have an extra "special" effect of pot smoke throughout the show that night...it looked like it was coming from the catwalk. Not too smart if any law enforcement folks were in the audience and definitely a distraction for others.
