About

You don't sell over two million copies of your debut album without some serious hard work, and Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy has never been shy of major elbow grease. When Vance Joy first cut his teeth performing at open mic nights in Melbourne, he was feeding on a diet of artists like The Pogues and Paul Kelly. By 2013 he was ready to introduce the world to his ukulele-led charm 'Riptide', which became an instant global classic. The connection and journey his music was about to have on the world in years to come was an unexpected reward to the young songwriter.

Vance Joy (born James Keogh) consolidated on that first impression with further anthems 'Mess is Mine', 'Georgia' and 'Fire and the Flood'. Those hits all found a home on the 2014's debut 'dream your life away'. Vance Joy spent 2013 and 2014 playing clubs around the world before the album was released which then saw him surface everywhere from singing on the American Idol Season Final to being handpicked to open Taylor Swift's 1989 World Tour, festivals from Lollapalooza in Chicago and South America, to Coachella, Splendour in the Grass and the AFL Grand Final. After his successful Sold Out 2016 'Fire and The Flood' North American theatre run, and Australian performances at the Sydney Opera House, Margaret Court Arena and Riverstage he took a well-earned rest.

Come July 2017 - Vance Joy kicked off the campaign for his sophomore album 'Nation of Two' with the lead single 'Lay It On Me' showing it was destined to be another successful album. The track was followed six months later with the album and follow up single 'Saturday Sun', a tune so good that he held up delivering Nation of Two to ensure it made the cut.

The success of 'Nation of Two' saw Vance Joy tour the world throughout 2018 on the 'Nation of Two World Tour' ranging in venues from Arena's across Canada, amphitheatres in North America including the famous Red Rocks, the first Latin American headline shows, theatres across Europe and Arena's across Australia including two sold-out hometown shows at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena. November 2018, the end of the 83 date World Tour, Vance Joy had yet another offer to tour with one of the world's biggest female artists. P!NK extended an offer for Vance Joy to join her European stadium run on her Beautiful Trauma World Tour. Summer 2019 saw Vance Joy and band join her biggest tour to date and enjoy an extensive run of Stadium shows across Europe before taking another well-earned break to work on album number three.

In 2021 Vance Joy returned with 'Missing Piece', the song soon hit x2 Platinum in Australia, #1 at USA Triple A Radio, #2 on the Australian Radio Chart, #2 at the USA and Canada Alternative Radio Chart and won Best Video at the ARIA Awards. Released in June 2022, 'In Our Own Sweet Time', the third album by Vance Joy featured hit single, 'Clarity' which peaked at #3 on the USA Alt Radio Charts. The song spent one week at #1, nine weeks in the Top 5 and eleven weeks in the Top 10 on the Triple A Radio Charts in the US. In Australia, Vance Joy received 5 ARIA Nominations after the album's release including, Best Solo Artist, Best Adult Contemporary Artist, Best Pop Release for Clarity, Song of the Year for Clarity and Best Video for Every Side of You. Winning Best Video for the 2nd year in a row.

With 5 billion streams across all platforms, it's no surprise that listeners all over the world connect to Vance Joys intimate yet anthemic song writing. His lyrics take you on a journey that will reach out and hold you for a delicate moment. Bringing together a unique, charming mix of folk music with pop influences, these songs capture the familiar pulse of everyday experiences in a unique and celebratory manner.

  • Late bloomer

by Tuned on 9/20/25Greenfield Lake Amphitheater - WilmingtonRating: 3 out of 5

I loved the venue However … everyone was confused about where to sit. I kept hearing where is my seat “ it says GA” I also would suggest better specificity … I didn’t need a blanket, I sat in a chair. There was hardly room for blankets so that was a rip off. As was the “fast lane” The hours of pre show gigs weren’t impressive. I expected Vance joy hours before he actually came out. When he finally did, he did well. That’s all I got

  • Seen him three times over 10 years! Hope the next is better…

by Emma on 9/7/25Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 3 out of 5

Sadly disappointed. Didn’t feel the energy, way too many openers. Got there early for good GA spots and waited at the entry gates. Stood at the front for well over two and a half hours listening to three openers whose music all sounded dreadfully indifferent from each other, and then when Vance finally came out he performed for about an hour????? Ugh!!! And 15-20 mins of that he was in the back of the venue away from the people in the front who waited four hours to be there, and he went on a low stage singing my favorite songs, of course. No one at the front could see him. He was hidden. He sounded amazing, I just really wish it was exciting, energetic and impactful. I would have sat in the back section in a chair if it meant I’d be comfortable and had the same experience.

  • Love him, but VERY short set!

    by Sam S on 9/6/25Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Vance put on a great show but it was SHORT!! He played for 65 minutes!! For the price of the tickets- just expected we’d get at least 90 min! We saw him in Boston in 2023 and he definitely played longer. But we are big fans and would go see him again!

  • Saved by the horns

    by ded548 on 9/6/25Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Vance Joy is super talented, and an excellent musician. What he is not is is a great showman. It's hard to be exciting when you're wearing an acoustic guitar and have to keep your face an inch from a mic, but even the act before Vance Joy (Evan Honer) came onto the stage with a cartwheel into a cheat gainer, and at two points during their stage time, did a synchronized dance that had the crowd moving. Vance Joy had the best music and huge fanbase.

  • MAGICAL

  • Great show!

by BizB on 9/6/25Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

This was my third Vance Joy concert and he just keeps getting better. He’s added a horn section and they are fantastic. We were in an outdoor concert venue and he came out and did an acoustic set in the middle of the crowd on a small stage. It was really special. I highly recommend seeing him live.

  • Fun but very short

    by Jen on 9/1/25Amphithéâtre Fernand-Lindsay - JolietteRating: 4 out of 5

It was a good concert. The opening act (Fortunate Ones) were good, and Vance Joy and his band played well. His performance was frustratingly short, though. He played for just over an hour. There was no encore. I was left feeling a bit cheated. It was an expensive ticket for a 70 min performance.

  • Voice cracked at the end, crowd supported, awesome!

by Gibb Girls on 8/29/25Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 5 out of 5

Definitely an interactive and great energy concert. Supporting band (trumpet and sax) was awesome!

  • Amazing Show

Perfect evening for me - great music/lyrics, interacted with the crowd, and crowd had a great vibe. Can't wait to see him again.

Vance Joy's tour was super fun! A great show for anyone. I was toward the back of the theater by myself and had a good experience. Also, I loved the opening group Tiny Habits.

  • Okay

by Neri on 10/5/24Radio City Music Hall - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Okay performance. Short and not particularly inspired.

  • Good show while it lasted

by Linda on 9/30/24Radio City Music Hall - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

The Vance Joy show was great!! My only issue is that Vance Joy only performed for 1 hour and 20 minutes. I feel that was a bit short for the amount paid for the tickets.

  • Great show

by Cjf1973 on 9/30/24Radio City Music Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Great show but I was disappointed he only played for an hour and 20 minutes

  • Incredible night at radio city

by Bill on 9/30/24Radio City Music Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Great night. Would see him again in an instant. The bass was amazing, the horns and sax musicians were amazing. Loved the stage lighting. And that lead singer guy..... not to shabby. He can sing.

  • Best Concert Ever!

by Mack on 9/30/24Radio City Music Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to many concerts to see many different artists, bands, and groups. Hands down, Vance Joy performance was the best experience I have ever had. Voice was amazing. The musical instruments was amazing. They didn’t need all the extra visuals and effects for you to enjoy their performance. It was pure music. I would definitely go see them again when I get the chance.

  • Outstanding show!

by Zap on 9/30/24Radio City Music Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I have admired his music for quite some time and this is the first time I have seen him live. What an amazing show! It was so great to see so many generations of people there. That shows that his music reaches across many different generations. You could feel the energy in the room when he came on. His voice is amazing and his talented man behind him made it even better. You can see that Vance cares about his fans and wants to give them a great experience. This was definitely one of the best concert I’ve been to in quite some time. I can’t wait to see him live again!

  • Highly Recommend

by voyageuse on 9/29/24Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I didn't particularly like his opening act, I wish there was a bigger named band but I thought Vance's performance was excellent; his energy and his talent! I loved it!

  • Amazing performance
