About

Unsane on Tour

The pioneering noise rock trio Unsane is back, taking fans worldwide on a wild metal-tinged journey through their deep and dark repertoire. Their epic aggressive lyrics and fast-paced, distorted guitar riffs offer a deluge of the macabre.

Their debut album, the self-titled Unsane, was released in 1991. They followed up with the release of Total Destruction in 1993. They've released eight studio albums to date and a remastered 2022 version of their debut album.

Their fast-paced instrumentals and intense lyrics are popular video game soundtracks. The Activision/Neversoft video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater features Unsane's "Committed," and Activision's True Crime: New York City uses the song "D Train."

Known for their aggressive sound, blending elements of noise rock, hardcore punk, and industrial music, Unsane has inspired a cult-like following around the world. Get tickets to see them when they come to a city near you.

Unsane Live in Concert

Originally known as Lawn-Chair-Blisters, Unsane was formed in 1988 by singer/guitarist Chris Spencer, bass guitarist Pete Shore and drummer Charlie Ondras while they were students at Sarah Lawrence College. The band's name comes from Dario Argento's 1982 horror film Tenebrae, which was known as "Unsane in the United States". Unsane was a big part of the noise-rock group scene on New York City's lower east side in the 1990s.

Unsane's 1991 self-titled debut album is widely known for its hardcore music and the gruesome cover art. After Spencer was hospitalized after a concert in 1998 in Vienna, he band took a break and regrouped in 2003.

Over the years, the band has had several changes in the lineup, with Spencer remaining as the founding member. After a two-year hiatus, Spencer announced the reformation of the band in 2021 with drummer Jon Syverson and Cooper, with the band focusing on playing earlier material. In 2022, they released a remastered version of their debut album, Unsane.
