Fair not as good as past years

by Girls BB fan on 3/11/22Alamodome - San Antonio

I have been coming to girls state basketball tournament for 45 years. I buy tournament tickets and come to every game I would like to see reserve seats again. It was better when the opposing teams were seated diagonally across from each other. Fans that came to watch all games were in the center. This year there was confusion when the teams from first game were slow to exit and the next games fans were trying to find seats. We saw several groups that had opposing teams sitting in same section ( not a good idea). Also saw many fans leave because of fans that never sat down, ruining the game for all seated behind them. Also was very disappointed that programs were not for sale. Tshirts were for sale but not programs.

    UIL Girls Basketball Championships

by David on 3/7/22Alamodome - San Antonio

Saw 18 games over three days. A lot of good basketball, but some not so good. Referees were mostly good, but some inconsistencies from game to game. Venue was a football stadium set up with a big curtain cutting the field in half. No physical programs were printed which was very upsetting. Other than these problems, I and my wife had a nice time.

    Cheating the kids

by Disappointed on 3/6/22Alamodome - San Antonio

I thought it was stupid to make everyone use their phones. Why can't we have the option of a ticket? And no programs? That was pitiful. How are we supposed to find out information on the teams and the tournament? I can't read the small print if I get the program off the internet. Most people can't read a font of 1. We need at least 8 or 10. And what are the players and families supposed to use as a keepsake from the state tournament? No programs = pathetic. No one I spoke with liked this.

    Good tournament bad ticket acquisition

by DannyJ on 3/6/22Alamodome - San Antonio

Not everyone is a 30 year old computer /iPhone genius. Older people had a really hard time acquiring tickets. I order 4tivkets and said I would receive an email with tickets. Never got them even tho I paid for them. Decided to order 4 more the next day and ended up having to pay for all 8. At $25 a ticket that really sucks. Hated buying tickets.

    Less than average experience

by Loyal State Tournament Fan of many years on 3/6/22Alamodome - San Antonio

I have been attending the girls state basketball tournament since 1998. I would have to say this was the poorest experience ever. The Alamodome security personnel were very unprofessional. The food vendors were terrible. Cold hot dogs, cold popcorn and jacked up prices on a barbecue sandwich with very little meat. It would have been nice to have been able to reserved seats like in 2020. Attendance at the 6A games were the lowest I have seen in a very long time. It’s questionable whether my family and I will return next year.

    The little things matter

by Laura on 3/3/19Alamodome - San Antonio

I enjoyed coming to the Alamodome this year. I thought going through security was very smooth. And anytime I went in the restroom they were always cleaned and stocked! There are two things that could have been better. One, the coffee was really weak on the last day. It was disappointing paying $4 for a small coffee and not liking it or wanting to drink it. Second, I always look forward to the music that is played but I did not enjoy it this year. In my opinion it was not appropriate for a high school sports function.
