Exciting and powerful in every way

by Anonymous on 2/13/18Pauley Pavilion - Los Angeles

Wife and I took advantage of ticket flash sale that was offered about a month before the meet. Great sports bargain. Four astonishing items: 1) This year, as in 2017, UCLA has two Olympic gold medalists - Kyla Ross and Madison Kocian - competing, and one - Jordyn Wieber - serving as volunteer assistant coach. 2) UCLA team members Lilia Waller and Christine Peng-Peng Lee, and graduated former team member Hallie Mossett sang national anthem in lovely harmony. Then within 30 seconds Mossett makes her way to the announcer's desk and becomes the meet PA announcer, and Lee competes on two of the events. 3) Total team score is exactly tied after three rotations, and after the last rotation Oklahoma prevails by slim margin of 0.15 points. Six 10 scores made during the meet, four by UCLA and two by Oklahoma. 4) Ceremony honoring five former and current UCLA and Oklahoma gymnasts who testified in the Nassar case. One was current Oklahoma star Maggie Nichols, who happened to score a 10 on the balance beam this day, and had highest individual all-around score. The athleticism, fair play, and respect for opponents displayed in college gymnastics puts all other sports to shame. Oh, and did I mention that the fans are enthusiastic but respectful? No drunken taunting and fighting.

    Amazing Gymnastics

Great meet between two incredibly talented teams. My girls were on their feet chanting for both UCLA and OK. They had the time of their lives. Both teams are a class act.

    GREAT atmosphere!

by Doyledays on 2/8/18Pauley Pavilion - Los Angeles

The atmosphere and vibe were excellent! We had so much fun! The athletes were so talented and fun. We would totally go again. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Things to remember the event has a plastic purse policy. So if you plan to bring a purse larger than a post card your purse has to be transparent. This is for purses, backpacks, etc. We saw many people carrying gallon size zip lock bags. Parking was easy but $12, so just be prepared for that as well. The meet took about an hour and a half I think. The transitions between the events was quick and lively and just as fun as the meet. We were in General Admission seating and could see just fine. Don't look across the gym at seats on the other side and decide to walk over there, because they will be gone before you get there unless you're really early. Book store was open after the meet for us to do a little college paraphernalia shopping. Have fun!!!!!

    UCLA was awesome!!!

by BruinFan1112 on 2/7/18Pauley Pavilion - Los Angeles

UCLA should have won the meet. They had much more difficult beam routines than Oklahoma especially Peng-Peng (Best I ever saw) but Oklahoma scored very high even though their routines were very elementary. Bad scoring was the reason Oklahoma won by .1 point.

I brought my daughter as well as my sister and we loved it! Seats were amazing, crowd was amazing and of course the gymnast were fantastic. My daughter is in gymnastics and ever since the competition she keeps saying “I’m going to be a UCLA gymnast. They’re so awesome!.” Great experience. Overall, we had an amazing time.
