UCF Knights Women’s Basketball Team History
The Knights joined the NCAA (Division II) during the 1982-83 season at the same time as their entire Sunshine State Conference. The school was bumped up to Division I just two seasons later and made their first of seven total NCAA Division I tournament appearances in 1996. Across conferences, the UCF women’s basketball team have netted seven regular season conference titles and eight conference tournament championships.
After the arrival of head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson in 2016-17, UCF completed a 14-win swing from the previous season and earned two consecutive spots in the Women's National Invitation Tournament. Before Abrahamson-Henderson departed in 2022, the Knights added three more March Madness appearances, capped by the women’s team’s first advancement to the Second Round and both regular season and conference titles in The American. Ahead of the 2023-24 season, UCF joined the Big 12.
