University of Central Florida Knights Football History

Varsity football didn't come to UCF until 1979, when the Knights joined the NCAA's Division III. By 1996, UCF ascended to the NCAA's top division, becoming the first program to play at all levels of college football. In short order, the Black and Gold became an unlikely national contender. In 2004, under new coach George O'Leary, UCF went 0-11. Over his next 10 seasons in Orlando, the team went to seven bowl games, including a 52-42 Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor, which capped a 2013 season in which the Knights went 12-1 and undefeated in conference play.

In 2017, under coach Scott Frost, the Knights swept the regular season, won their conference championship game over Memphis in double overtime, and beat No. 7 Auburn in the Peach Bowl, 34-27 — the first undefeated season in school history. The following year, the Knights went 12-1, their only loss coming against LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. That game ended UCF's 25-game winning streak. The Knights have made a bowl game in nearly every season under head coach Gus Malzahn up until his final season in 2024.

University of Central Florida Knights at Acrisure Bounce House

Located just northeast of downtown Orlando, Acrisure Bounce House has been the Knights' home since 2007. It quickly earned the nickname "The Bounce House" thanks to vibrations produced whenever fans jumped in unison, and the title was officially added to the stadium’s official name in 2025. Come out a couple hours before kickoff and greet the players during their Knight Walk from IOA Plaza. Ninety minutes before kickoff, you can join the marching band and the spirit team near Knights Plaza for the fan march to the stadium. And when "Kernkraft 400” by Zombie Nation comes on the speakers at the game, be sure to bounce.

What an event and what a game. I have been watching sport all my life, most recently I have done NFL and MLB, This was a truly unbelievable. We got there early and enjoyed the tailgating. The university campus is amazing and it seemed that all the students where partying. I had my 10 and 8 year old daughters with me and everyone seemed to treat them great. We then did all the pre game rituals which were great. The stadium is fab and the match was great.

The facilities and game were great, but the vendors charge way too much.

  • Game was great - pre-print your tickets!

by Colper on 9/1/13Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Kicking off the college football season was great! Thank god it was a night game and even then it was still 90 degrees out! Don't think it's fall just because football has started, you will regret wearing jeans. The worst part about the game was Will Call. I missed the first 15 minutes of the game because I had to wait in a 45 minute Will Call line. This queue was an embarrassment made of PVC pipe stuck into buckets of sand. There are two side by side queues that merge and crisscross to take you to opposite ticket windows! Only 2 of the 5 windows can even process Will Call orders! It was a mess so preprint your tickets... It's worth the $3!

  • Great game pity about the car parking

by ukfan2012 on 11/20/12Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed my football experience, but for car parking problem. Ordered tickets and car parking on line. When ordered could only have tickets at "Will call". When driving to stadium police would not let me drive to the parking area I had paid for without a ticket for the game/parking area even though I showed them the E mail receipt from Ticket master which pointed out the "Will call" collection and told them that I needed to go to the "Will call" colection point to be able to show them the ticket. In the end could only park in general parking which was FREE, (could have saved myself some money), and walked a long way to the "Will call" and game. When at "Will call" they were unable to help with the parking as I had done it through Ticket master. All that aside great experience would do it all again apart from the paid parking since walking through the "Tail gateing" party was amazing.

We very much enjoyed attending this UCF football game. The environment is "stirring". The crowd gets so excited. And the team performed exceptionally well. It is very gratifying to support such a well coached team and one that has such great community backing. We are going to do this again!

  • Ucf scheduling

by JoeC1234 on 10/7/12Bright House Networks Stadium - OrlandoRating: 3 out of 5

The game was good but the time was unforgiving. UCF games should be played in the evening. A noon game in Central Florida in September is brutal. The heat was awful and the sun was relentless. The stands were maybe halfway full. I found out why. I will not go back to a noon game in Florida before mid-October every again. Whomever schedules these games obviously has never sat in the stands in this scenario.
