University of Central Florida Knights Football History

Varsity football didn't come to UCF until 1979, when the Knights joined the NCAA's Division III. By 1996, UCF ascended to the NCAA's top division, becoming the first program to play at all levels of college football. In short order, the Black and Gold became an unlikely national contender. In 2004, under new coach George O'Leary, UCF went 0-11. Over his next 10 seasons in Orlando, the team went to seven bowl games, including a 52-42 Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor, which capped a 2013 season in which the Knights went 12-1 and undefeated in conference play.

In 2017, under coach Scott Frost, the Knights swept the regular season, won their conference championship game over Memphis in double overtime, and beat No. 7 Auburn in the Peach Bowl, 34-27 — the first undefeated season in school history. The following year, the Knights went 12-1, their only loss coming against LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. That game ended UCF's 25-game winning streak. The Knights have made a bowl game in nearly every season under head coach Gus Malzahn up until his final season in 2024.

University of Central Florida Knights at Acrisure Bounce House

Located just northeast of downtown Orlando, Acrisure Bounce House has been the Knights' home since 2007. It quickly earned the nickname "The Bounce House" thanks to vibrations produced whenever fans jumped in unison, and the title was officially added to the stadium’s official name in 2025. Come out a couple hours before kickoff and greet the players during their Knight Walk from IOA Plaza. Ninety minutes before kickoff, you can join the marching band and the spirit team near Knights Plaza for the fan march to the stadium. And when "Kernkraft 400” by Zombie Nation comes on the speakers at the game, be sure to bounce.

  • Great day out

by GRT on 11/5/19Spectrum Stadium - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

We arrived at UCF had free parking, you then walk through campus and the tailgating and get to the stadium where a band was playing. Inside the stadium you get the full college game day experience with the marching band, the fans jumping up and down making the grandstands rock and UCF are an entertaining team to watch.

  • Good game, waste of tickets

by Busydoc on 10/2/18Spectrum Stadium - OrlandoRating: 2 out of 5

We were very excited to go to our first college football game with our college freshman. (We are avid NFL fans). We sat in our assigned seating, then found out people were sitting wherever they pleased. Unfortunately, a group in front of us decided they were going to stand up for the entire game, completely blocking our view. We asked them to sit and they refused. It was a 95 degree day, we were sitting in the blazing sun and the stadium design does not allow proper airflow of the breeze. Refreshments are every bit as expensive as any NFL venue. The game itself was amazing, but we were watching it on the screen, not the field. Ended up leaving at halftime. Overall waste of money.

  • The game was AMAZING!

by UCFKarin on 12/10/17Spectrum Stadium - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Excellent game, well what we could see of it. We had amazing seats but the jerks 2 seats in front of us did not sit down the entire game so unless we stood also we had a view of their backs or we had to watch the screens in the stadium. Sadly they were in the first row and we were in the 3rd row. They ruined it for us and the two guys in front of us also.

    by Meridian33 on 12/8/17Spectrum Stadium - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Congrats Champs! So glad I came down to see it in person. My Alma Mater kept fighting til the end. It was thrilling, frustrating, exciting, ridiculous, and dramatic. And I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Go Knights! #proudalumni #wewillmissyoucoachfrost #undefeated #yaysports #ucf

  • Double Overtime

    by 2Adorable on 12/5/17Spectrum Stadium - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

What a game. The score was kept close by Memphis and ended up in a tie at the end of regulation play and again at the end of the first overtime. The final score was UCF 62 and Memphis 55. Sounds more like a basketball score...

Had a wonderful time and loved the game. The view was excellent. The crowd was FANtastic. However it is way too hot in Florida to not have a shade canopy. Make sure to wear sunscreen.

I had a great time cheering for UCF at Spectrum Stadium. The place was packed, cheering on the home team to an amazing double overtime win over Memphis. Highly recommend attending a game at UCF to see a great college atmosphere and a stadium that is made for making noise.
