by AnLWi on 8/6/11Sixth and I Historic Synagogue - WashingtonI really wanted to like this band live, honest, but they just didn't come through for me. It's a 13 piece band that does mostly quiet, slow, subtle music. Beautiful stuff, and the album has grown on me the more I listen to it, so I was excited to see them. The live show was uneven, though. There isn't enough room on stage for anyone to be very active or engaging, and honestly, each of the performers had so much down time that I wondered why they think they need so many people in the band. To make matters worse, the air circulation in the venue was poor and the BO of the crowd was rank, which was a wee bit distracting. I will not go to see them live again. The openner, Lady Lamb the Beekeeper (a solo act), had a great voice and a unique style and engaged the audience well. She needs to work on her songwriting, but she's only 22 year old. She seems to have a whole lot of potential.
