TYLER, THE CREATOR IN CONCERT:
Hip hop innovator and Odd Future figurehead Tyler, the Creator had another huge year in 2013, releasing his sophomore album Wolf to a No. 1 spot on the Rap Albums chart and headlining the second annual Odd Future Carnival alongside Frank Ocean. According to Tyler, though, the standout moment of the year was sharing the stage with Kanye West for a rendition of "Late," a track Kanye rarely performs live. With luminaries from West to Erykah Badu hailing his inventive, offbeat style as a game changer, Tyler, the Creator is poised to deliver another series of mind-expanding performances on tour in 2014.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Tyler, the Creator grew up immersed in a creative street culture that sparked his early interest in fashion, music production, and rapping. In 2006 he founded the hip hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, joining Earl Sweatshirt, Left Brain, and a host of other talented up-and-comers in the creation of a unique leftfield approach to the genre that earned the crew a huge following. After several underground releases, Tyler made his mixtape debut with 2009's Bastard, a self-produced tour de force that landed on Pitchfork Media's Top 50 Albums of 2010. His studio debut, 2011's Goblin, would prove an even bigger success, topping the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and earning him mainstream recognition virtually overnight. With the 2013 release of Wolf, Tyler firmly cemented his role as the dominant voice of a new generation of hip hop artists.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Tyler was awesome, you could tell he was really having a good time and that he loves what he does. "Yonkers" and "Sandwiches" were amazingly well performed."
"Tyler always puts on an epic show! I can't wait to see him again!"
"His energy level is absolutely unbelievable, and he interacts so well with the crowd. Such an amazing performance..."
Tyler is real and Taco is sooooo fine! Great concert! Luv my skate crowd!
tickets said there would be a "special guest" all i saw was OF people...don't know how special they are at this point is all!
Everything is great, but they are known to crowd surf & they couldn't do that, its sucks. But , overall it was fantastic!
We went with a group of friends for my birthday to see this show and were a little late arriving. Tyler was only on stage for about an hour! By the time we arrived we missed the show and they didn't even come out for an encore. Everyone at the venue was very disappointed and felt like it was a waste of time and money!!
I'll never forget it. It was hype and he was amazing
The show was really good, just packed like sardines.
I LOVED this concert. It was loud and hype and it was funny. I'm such a huge fan of Tyler and this is the first time I've seen him live. Unforgettable. Taco and jasper were amazing as well. The only thing I would suggest is that the Newport theatre not have giant speakers on the front of the stage, it obstructed some people's view. And I wish Tyler jasper and taco touched people's hands and threw out some stuff and i wish it was longer.
There were so many people at this show, it was packed. I waited outside for an hour and a half in the cold, then about an hour inside, but it was sick. He always delivers a good show and Taco and Jasper were great!! It was cool to see Tyler do a solo show. The set was only 50 minutes, though.
Great show. He pumps up the crowd and rocks it. Its crazy. Best show I've been to. Just wish it was longer
Door were supposed to open at 7. They opened at like 8. There was hardly an opening act, Taco played like 3 songs on his iTunes. Then Tyler came out and halfheartedly "performed" for an hour, playing only two of the new songs, which were already released. Anti-climactic last number. No charisma. Poor crowd work. Sucked. Not worth the $32 I paid on Ticketmaster.
TYLER ALWAYS PUTS ON AN EPIC SHOW!! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM AGAIN!!
Had to wait in line for a long ass time but was worth it. Nice venue
My first concert front row by the stage awesome event cant wait to go again
The doors to the show was supposed to open at 7 but never opened until 8 pm. Once getting inside it became evident there was no opener for the show. Tyler the creator came on at 9 and did short versions of songs from his catalog. At 9:50 the show ended and the lights went out. He tickets cost $30 dollars and I drove 2 hours to see Tyler perform I was incredibly underwhelmed. Long story short, save yourself some cash and buy the record which will be cheaper, more thought out, and more than likely longer than a 50 minute set.
It was terrible I stood in line for 2 hours after doors opened in the freezing cold once the concert started Tyler forgot the worlds to almost every song and it only lasted about 45 minutes I would go back if you payed me a billion dollars that's how much it sucked
I took my son to this concert. He loved it but I didn't . He only played for and hour and didn't even sing a whole song. I drive 4 hours for an hour concert and the place was nasty and they allowed the people to smoke pot in there. Don't get me wrong I like rap music but this concert. Sucked
Short set. About 5o minutes but it was cool. Just wish it was longer. But he had a doodoo moment so whatever.
I love small venues for hip hop. Tyler was awesome, you could tell he was really having a good time and that he loves what he does. Yonkers and Sandwiches were amazingly well performed. All in all a great show. I can't wait for Ghostface! ! !
Second time seeing them and it was absolutely insane, as expected ! Mosh pits, stage diving, crowd surfing, OF knows how to do a live show w/o a doubt ! Asher Roth was sick too :]
Great show but I wish ODD FUTURE would have performed longer..
