About

Twisted Sister's 37-year legacy with global sales of 12 million records, 33 Gold and Platinum Awards and more than 9,000 performances is nothing short of amazing. Twisted co-lead guitarist JAY JAY FRENCH formed the band in New York City in December,1972. High school buddy EDDIE OJEDA (co-lead guitar) came onboard in 1975.  With the addition of front man DEE SNIDER in 1976, the band embraced the theatricality of the shock rock movement combined with their signature hard-rock sound that continues to embrace new fans and remain loyal to their followers. Ex-Dictator, bassist MARK 'The Animal' MENDOZA joined in 1978 and Twisted Sister was steadily making a name for itself on the grueling club circuit while including more and more Snider-penned original material in the sets. The final addition of drummer A.J. PERO completed the line-up responsible for every Twisted Sister classic including, "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock." The band is currently celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their legendary mutli-platinum selling album, Stay Hungry with a special edition package of that album on CD and vinyl. A Twisted Christmas CD was released in 2006. The overwhelming success of that release and its steady, annual holiday sales were the inspiration behind what has become an annual theatrical spectacular, TWISTED CHRISTMAS ON BROADWAY. With set and stage designs created with the help of Kevin O'Callaghan, Chair of 3D Design at New York's legendary School of Visual Arts, A TWISTED CHRISTMAS ON BROADWAY is a mind-boggling, theatrical spectacle designed to kick off the holiday season with a memorable assault of lights, sound and staging.

  • LA Guns should've played the main stage!

    by trina462 on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Overall the event was great, but Dokken and Slaughter should've been put on the 2nd stage-their sets were VERY disappointing. LA Guns played the 2nd stage and their set was incredible-definitely good enough for them to have played the main stage.

  • Lots of fun!

The bands sounded great and the atmosphere was wonderful! It was tiring for me, I'm not used to all day events!

  • A fantastic day!

by Lobbie on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

I was hesitant to attend - afraid that the "rockers" would be aged, bloated and not as I remembered. I was totally wrong! With the exception of a couple of lead singers the music seemed as current as it did in the late 80s. It was my son's first concert experience and it was great for him and for me and my husband. The day was over way too fast! I hope there is another one next year for me to attend!

  • M3 was a classic

The afternoon started with Gilby Clark, Y&T and Slaughter. Neither were memorable and could be capably replaced in the future with Great White, Dangerous Toys and Sebastian Bach. Jani Lane really got the party started with opening tune Down Boys and closing song Cherry Pie. In between he was sober and entertaining - a refreshing take considering his past reputation. Next up was Dokken. If you haven't seen them lately, Jon Levin fills in nicely as the lead guitarist and obviously Dokken hasn't lost much of his voice or swagger over the years. A highly entertaining performance although we had to leave early to see...THE GREATEST GROUP OF THE DAY, Steel Panther. Formerly named Danger Kitty & Metal Shop, the Metal Schoolers were easily the best performers. From the "shake all your booty" security guard female dancer to Lex putting on his lip gloss, Steel Panther alternately rocked and zinged the crowd with their one-liners. Next up were the Kix playing essentially a hometown show. They must have known the soundboard guys because this band had the days cleanest sound to match a back catalogue that was second to none. It's funny that the band with no real notariety had the most memorable songs of the day: Don't Close Your Eyes and Cold Shower. Good for them, even though it's twenty five years later. Running to the second stage, we caught all of LA Guns fourteen-song set. The Guns have Hollywood history that makes them rock royalty. They didn't seem upset to be playing the second stage and "Ripped and Teared" the place. Kiss My Love Goodbye really moved the crowd as the band celebrated the 20-year anniversary of Cocked and Loaded. We took a dinner break for Extreme for obvious reasons so I can't comment. Ratt was exactly what one would expect. We were happy that they pulled off a lucid version of Way Cool Jr and were saddened that they only played two songs from Invasion: Lay it Down and You're in Love. The band seems enamoured with it's first record and featured it that day. Unfortunately, even though the band is quite professional, Round and Round is the only enjoyable tune there. Slip of the Lip, I Want a Women, Dangerous and Dance are all more worthy material. Too bad. We left before Twisted Sister arrived, thank heavens. Thanks to Merriweather and Seth for putting on such an enjoyable day's activity. Let's make it a two day fest for 2010!

  • Kix rocked M3

by jeepr on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first Festival in over 20 years and it did not dissappoint. All the bands were great but the stand outs for me were KIX, Twisted Sister, Jani Lane and Extreme. This should be an annual festival and if it is I will be there next year.

  • KIX and Extreme were the best!

    by 80shairbandAnn on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The show was awesome! It was like being back in high school. Would definitely go again, if it came around.

  • M3 was MMM

    by 80sMetalBabe on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Because there were so many bands, they only had time to play their hits, which, let's face it, is what we really want anyway. I enjoyed it thoroughly and would make the trip again should another event be there that tickles my fancy. I love those hair bands!!

  • Great show!

  • Absolutely Perfect

by Swick on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

We are from the Philadelphia area and this was our first time at the MPP, so we did not know what to expect. Well, the arena and the show far exceeded all expectations. This may be the best arena that we've ever been to for a concert. I guess the perfect weather helped a lot, but the MPP makes all aspects convenient. There are tons of concession stands (with an incredible variety of drinks and food... particularly loved the Smirnoff stands), ample bathrooms, and a vey friendly, non-harassing staff. We are used to the SBC (formerly Tweeter) in Camden, NJ and the MPP blows that away in all categories listed above. To top it all off, we got to see an amazing performance!! I am a huge fans of all the bands on the main stage (except Extreme), so this was a real treat. Of particular notwe, Y&T, Jani Lane, Ratt, and Sister all sounded amazing. I have seen the Jani Lane-less Warrant a couple of times in recent years and,w hile they were awesome, nothing compares to seing Jani Lane perform his own songs. All the other guys (i.e., Dokken, Slaughter, Gilby, Kix) were awesome too, and LA Guns were incredible on the second stage too. It was great seeing Kix because they had a real home-town following that they don't necessarily get in Philly and they probably got some of the better crowd reaction for the day. Overall, this concert is an ABSOLUTE MUST SEE for any fan of the 80's hair bands. If they come back next year, we are there!!

  • m3 festival blew!!!

by iditarod on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 1 out of 5

I thought if I paid for seats instead of the lawn i would have a better view of everything, no! You needed a telescope to really see them. I paid $110 + other charges when I really should have paid something like $20

  • M3 was INCREDIBLE!!!

by KennyOzz on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

We came all the way from Cincinnati to Baltimore for the show. All the bands were great. Please do M3 again next year!!!

  • M3 Rock Festival was amazing!!!

    by metamaiden1 on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the scheduling of the bands was very good. Out of the 16 bands that played I was able to see 14. I thought the mix of bands was very good and was excited to see XYZ, L.A. Guns with Phil Lewis, Y&T and Steel Panther. There has not been an opportunity to see some of these bands in the VA - MD area. I am a huge fan of 80's metal and was glad to have a festival with bands of this calaber in my backyard. It was also my first time seeing Twisted Sister and they did a great job getting the crowd pumped up. I went to the show with some friends and we would definitely attend again and would actual like it if the festivals was two days. It would be great if they could get other great 80's metal bands like Great White or Britny Fox and even Danger Danger for the next one.

  • BEST OF SUMMER!

by ToriT on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

Great to have a venue for that type of music. My only complaint: Have side stage bands playing at the same time as the main stage bands!
