TREY ANASTASIO IN CONCERT:

Trey Anastasio's music transcends the walls of traditional rock -- whether he's leading the band Phish with his unique vocals or composing original licks on his Martin guitar, Anastasio proves his virtuosity as an extremely well-rounded musician. Although he's played alongside a diverse group of acts ranging from Dave Matthews to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Anastasio always returns to his roots as a guitarist and composer, captivating audiences with his grand use of arpeggios and improvisation at his live shows. Hitting the road with a number of different bands, Anastasio will treat fans to hit-filled sets on his highly anticipated summer tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Texas, Trey Anastasio got his start in college as the frontman of legendary jam band Phish, performing at local house parties for fellow classmates. The band rose to fame in the late '80s with their cult debut Phish (The White Tape), and eleven more albums followed over the course of their three-decade career. During the band's run, Anastasio released ten solo records, including an orchestral album and a collaboration between Primus' Les Claypool (bass) and Police's Stewart Copeland (drums) called Oysterhead. Not only has he had an expansive collection of hits, but he's also dabbled in chamber music and scoring for theater, composing a number of orchestral pieces and penning music for the Broadway musical Hands on a Hardbody. Anastasio has a packed summer tour ahead, and he's sure to delight fans as he performs with the Trey Anastasio Band, Phish, and the LA Philharmonic.

    Better than Phish

by skillyson on 2/24/10The Pageant - St Louis

Trey rocked my socks off and so did all the other members of the classic tab. I say this show is better than any of the Phish shows that I have been to. Also, I have never been closer to Trey, and that also made me happy! Thanks for playing bathtub gin!

    WOW!!!

I'm not a huge Phish fan, and I don't know any of Trey's solo material, but I have to say I truely enjoyed this entire show. Anytime music can make you shake like that, I'm a fan.

4 hrs!!!!! Trey in full form. Drink lines at the State are so ridiculous it diminished the experience a touch though.

    Trey and co. killed it!

by kboooo on 2/22/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Was really impressed by the band. I have seen them once before and was more impressed this time. The jams were more concise much as Phish's are. Sultan's of Swing was cool as well. Cayman Review or Alive Again were my favorites.

Trey was healthy, happy, but in & out of focus.

    by Ace27 on 2/22/10State Theatre - Minneapolis

first show Ive seen in months. What a show it was. Huge smiles all around. He was jumping around and conducting the horns like a mad scientist. Shine. High energy Super charged Push on til the day. Nice Cayman review. He looked really happy and healthy. His guitar sounded soo sweet. When most acts would typically end their show-he launched into an acoustic stellar mini-set. Nice Joy & Water in the sky + bathtub. Set break. Nice sand. After midnight the show got a little long and silly. He showcased Jennifer Hartswick too much. You know the heavy Horn player chick w/ the really big voice? Well, they launched into a black dog from Zeppelin. Potential is all that would amount. She took the lead vocals which Trey should never attempt. She was shrieking and wailing & hurting my ears. Morgan was shaking hher head. Bad to worse- they encore with First Tube. A bunch of squealing feedback & swinging the guitar shennanigans ensue. After a 2nd set that was light on vocals to begin with, it was just not a strong of a finish. It can't take away from all the magic leading up. Long show. Great show-ended badly.

    trey rocks

    by ajw2 on 2/21/10State Theatre - Minneapolis

trey and classic tab were great. jennifer hardwick rocked it, as did the (very young) trombonist, and trey played tightly with lots of energy. although there were a few duds, they played lots of old stuff (most of the first album in fact), which was wonderful. trey also did a solo acoustic mini-set, which was cool. the show was really long. the venue was also great. it was cool to see them in a smaller space with good ambiance. the only problem with the venue was the sound. the music sounded ok, but it wasn't really loud enough, and you couldn't understand what trey was saying when he talked. also, the beer lines were WAY too long. they needed to set up more bars. the crowd was ok. the chick who puked violently all over the very crowded sidewalk at set break was kinda awesome too. actually, the awesome part was watching an entire team of high school cheerleaders (in uniform) walk through it... the guy who puked all over the seats right behind us was less awesome.

Absolutely unbelievable show. The energy was pouring off the stage into the crowd and bouncing off the walls. I have never seen Trey so together and on his game. The band behind Trey are special musicians and I really felt privileged to be at the show. "Push on till the day", which I've heard live 5 times now, is definitely a the top of my list. All I can say is amazing musicians, great music and incredible fan base. Dont miss this band. Scalpers were asking $150 a ticket, I would've paid $500 and not thought twice about it.

Trey and TAB Up the Ante

by NYMikeB on 2/17/10Terminal 5 - New York

I've seen Trey with every adaptation of his solo work. I've seen him with just Tony and Russ, then with Ray also, all the way up to when he had a 10 piece. I rather enjoyed Trey's 10 piece, but honestly, the way they played on 2/16/10 was just terrific. It was an extremely high energy show. Russ and Ray were totally pumped and Jennifer was awesome, as usual. New edition, Natalie, was great and it was a really cool atmosphere when Trey introduced her; very familial. Trey, as is always the case these days, was phenominal; ever evolving in his sound, technique, and phrasing. Don Hart's pre-tour re-charting for the horn section really paid off. They were solid and the chords were big and juicy. If there are tickets still available at your local venue, you'd be a fool not to go. Best $40 I've spent in a while.

Show was absolutely amazing. Terminal 5 wasnt as bad as i had heard. Long lines for everything but if you got there early you could spend the whole show upfront. Was very fun. Trey was amazing.
