About Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni
The legends of the game of hockey continue to have an impact on and off the ice, and nowhere is this more true than in Toronto, with the Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni leading the way. Founded in 1995 by Leafs legends Red Kelly, Frank Mahovlich, Allan Stanley, and Eddie Shack, the TMLA celebrate the past while working toward a better future for all.
More than 220 former Toronto Maple Leafs are members of this alumni association, making it the largest of its kind in the National Hockey League. Hall of Famers and those who may have enjoyed a brief moment of glory with the Leafs are treated equally, using their notoriety to contribute to the greater good.
The Maple Leafs Alumni donate their time, their money, and their name recognition to numerous charities, including but not limited to the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Foundation, Prostate Cancer Canada, and the Family Fund of the Canadian Armed Forces. Charity games between Leafs alumni and alumni from other teams contribute to various organizations, while golf tournaments allow fans to tee off with their childhood heroes for a good cause. Leafs alumni also make public appearances on behalf of other organizations, all handled by the TMLA.
The Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni mission is not limited to merely being ambassadors for the team they contributed so much to over the years. The TMLA also acts as a bridge between generations, connecting with the fans who enjoyed them in their youth, as well as the players who look up to them in the present and who will become TLMA members themselves upon their retirement.
In addition, a scholarship fund in honor of the late Ted "Teeder" Kennedy is sponsored by the Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni, and is exclusively dedicated to the children and grandchildren of Leafs players, ensuring that those connected to the team through their parents and grandparents have a bright future.
