About

TONE LOC IN CONCERT:

Old school hip hop icon Tone Loc became rap royalty in the early ‘90s with seminal party anthems like “Wild Thing” and Funky Cold Medina”. Two decades later he’s got as much swagger as ever, taking fans on a dance-filled trip down memory lane every time he takes the stage to perform his beat-heavy hits. Loc’s conversational flow, sense of humor, and onstage energy always make for a good time, and his career-spanning sets on tour get ticket buyers moving and shaking “All Through the Night”.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Tone Loc was born and raised in Los Angeles, where he was involved with the SouthSide Compton Crips before leaving gang life to focus on music. He shot from relative obscurity to overnight stardom in 1988 when his debut single “Wild Thing” -- which was based on a Van Halen sample -- topped charts around the world. His rise continued with his 1989 debut album Loc-ed After Dark, a platinum-selling smash that became the second-ever rap album to top the Billboard 200 (the first was the Beastie Boys’ 1986 album Licensed to Ill). Loc’s1991 sophomore album Cool Hand Loc had less of a chart impact, but it still managed to land a Top 20 R&B hit with “All Through the Night” (feat. El DeBarge). Following a tour in support of the release Loc began acting, eventually becoming a successful voice actor with roles in FernGully: The Last Rainforest and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. He hasn’t released an album in more than two decades, but his reputation as a wicked performer continues to make him a staple at freestyle and old school hip hop festivals around the country.

We were disappointed with the show. Especially knowing we could of seen the Totally 80's band for free at a different venue. The show started 20 minutes late, expected... but started with the DJ going through other artist old skool songs for about 20 minutes. When Tone Loc finally did come out on stage, was more talking then performing, did two...yes only two songs pulled a bunch of ladies up on stage for his second song and he was done. Color me Badd was a disaster, off note, off key, talking not singing... we left and went to another show elsewhere... Never again will we attend a concert at the Meadows casino either, they have a permanent tent set up in the rear parking lot with seating to jam people in to make money.

    Too expensive

For the ticket price in for only playing for songs this was ridiculous.

They only sang about 4 of their own songs and talked more than anything

    Nice venue

Tone Loc had a lot of energy, but the performance was brief. Color Me Badd was a bar room karaoke event. Not impressed at all.

GO SEE TONE LOC FANTASTIC SHOW FROM START 2 FINISH

by MmmBrownie on 2/2/17L A COUNTY FAIR - LOS ANGELES

I went to the L.A. County Fair and saw they had an Old School Hip Hop Show....with Vanilla Ice, Kid N Play, Color Me Badd, All 4 One, Young MC and Tone Loc. The whole show was amazing to see they all still had what we loved about them back in the 90'....but Tone Loc came on and took us from Funky old Medina to a medley of hits...that we all knew and sang through and before we knew it he had at-least 25 women rushed onstage to Wild Thing...the whole crowd was singing.....it was the best. I hear they are on a tour...so I hope they come back....

Tone Loc Was A Wild Thing at Old School!

by Novelist73 on 7/27/11The Orleans Arena - Las Vegas

This was the first time that I had seen Tone Loc in concert, and I can't believe that I hadn't seen him before especially back in the day! But he was the third of the seven acts that went on at The Old School Summer Jam sponsored by a local radio station that my sister and I had front row center seats for. His friend came out and rapped first as he got us hyped up for Tone Loc. Once he came out, he had the crowd going and was full of energy and humor, and took us all back in the day with his famous hits Funky Cold Medina and Wild Thing- which he did last. He wasn't on for that long, but the time he was on he left us all entertained and wanting more. I missed him when he came to a club for Old School Wednesdays so I'm glad I got to see him this time around!
